Mr. Don Gordon Ransone

Don Gordon Ransone, age 75, of Jonesboro, was born July 4, 1936 at Valley View. He died May 20, 2012 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Don was in the grocery business all of his life. He spent the majority of his career at Gasaway’s Grocery. He retired from Wallace and Owens in 2003. Don was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He attended Community Fellowship Church. Don enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren. Don was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Arkansas Razorbacks, and loved being outdoors. He served seven years in the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry G. and Katie Harvey Ransone; and three brothers, Jimmy, Dale, and Gale Ransone.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shirley King Ransone of the home; one daughter, LaDonna Frazier and husband Roy; two grandchildren, Ashley and Zach Corter; one brother, Larry Ransone and wife Sharon; four sisters, Earlene Brown, Frances Walker, Eunice Worlow and husband Leland, and Patsy Watkins, all of Jonesboro.

Visitation will be 5-8 pm Tuesday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home with Chad Wood and Dave Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at McDaniel Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will include Galen Ransone, Jeff Ransone, Randy Ransone, Brandon Ransone, Norman Ransone, Leland Worlow, Phillip Brown and Jace Gasaway. Honorary pallbearers will include Jerry Gasaway, Dwight Tosh, James Lawson, Mike Duncan, Gary Watkins, Elmer Sanford, Jerry West, Bruce King and Ray King.
