Mr. H.D. "Dee" McDaniel

H.D. “Dee” McDaniel passed away at the age of 85 at his home in Ellisville, Mississippi. He was born in Jonesboro, July 5, 1926 to Henderson and Sue McDaniel. He lived in Jonesboro until the 1980’s when he moved to Mississippi and lived in Gautier prior to moving to Ellisville.

Mr. McDaniel was well known in the construction industry as an owner, with his brother Dos, of McDaniel Bros Construction Company, a notoriously top 400 ENR contractor. He built factories, schools, athletic complexes, banks, hotels, treatment plants and utility projects all across the Midwest and Southeast. H.D. was a former paratrooper in the Korean War and an accomplished pilot flying N9322Y “Yankee” from project to project. He was also a huge Arkansas Razorback fan, attending games all over the Southeast in his converted 1948 Greyhound Bus, the “Hog Bus.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carrie Sue Medlock; and his first wife, Dorothy Jeanne McDaniel.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Denise McDaniel, Mark (Julie) McDaniel, Brad McDaniel and Michelle Gregson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Markelle McDaniel, Jada McDaniel, Brandon McDaniel, Adam Gregson, Aleshia Gregson, DeeDee Hanson, Kenton Mitchell and Brooke Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Kyle McDaniel, Bailey McDaniel and Chaseigh Moran; and his brother, Dos McDaniel.

Funeral services will be graveside at McDaniel Cemetery, Monday 11:00 am with Jimmy Adcox officiating.

Visitation is Sunday from 5-8:00 pm at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 W. Washington. A second visitation will be held 10:00 am until service time at the pavilion at McDaniel Cemetery.
