Floyd Ellis McElroy, age 87, of Jonesboro, was born December 24, 1923 and died Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Ridgecrest Health and Rehabilitation in Jonesboro. He was born in Marietta, Mississippi to Archie and Quida McElroy. Mr. McElroy worked at Frolic Footwear for 34 years and attended New Hope Baptist Church. He loved whittling, fishing, leather tooling, playing cards, Cardinal baseball and Tiger basketball.

Mr. McElroy was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Marie McElroy, his parents and a brother, Garner McElroy.

Mr. McElroy is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Bob) Johnson of Pocahontas; two sisters, Pauline Edings and Joy (Roy) Coble both of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Stephanie Stricklin (Chris) King of Tupelo, Mississippi, D’Ann (Bill) Mabry of San Antonio, Texas and Bobbie Lynn Johnson of San Antonio, Texas and two greatgrandchildren, Kyra King and Joseph Michael Johnson.

Viewing will be at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Ave, in Jonesboro on Saturday from 12:30-2:00pm.

Services will be graveside at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery Saturday at 2:30pm with Wynndel King officiating.
