Jennings "J.B." Bryan Huber

of Weiner, AR

November 11, 1927 - January 17, 2012

Jennings Bryan Huber, Jr., 84, of Weiner passed away on January 17, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro from complications of congestive heart failure and stroke. J.B. was born in Weiner on November 11, 1927, the son of Jennings Bryan Huber, Sr. and Jessie Hogue Huber. He graduated from Weiner High School in 1945 and lived in Weiner all his life. He began farming in 1946 and became well known in Poinsett County as a farmer.

J.B. was respected as a good man and a faithful Christian whose daily life reflected his belief. J.B. liked to learn new things and especially enjoyed learning about electronics and the latest inventions. He amazed his family with his ability to quickly calculate advanced math problems mentally. J.B. Huber was a good son and friend, a faithful and loving husband and father. His laughter and zest for life will be greatly missed.

He was a charter member of Weiner Christian Church and attended Mid-South Christian College in Memphis, serving as chairman of the board. He was an ordained minister and helped establish Christian Churches in Jonesboro, serving as minister, teacher, and elder. He also served as treasurer of Mo-Ark Christian Service Camp. He was a member of the Poinsett County ASC Committee, a board member of Riceland Food Directors, and past president of the Weiner Grain Dryer. He served on the Farm Bureau Board of Directors and Poinsett County Quorum Court. He was a member and treasurer of Poinsett County Drainage District #3 for 45 years. He was a member of the Arkansas Antique Car Club, the Cardinal Lodge 677 in Weiner, and the former Poinsett County Historical Society. He was a charter member and past president of the Weiner Lions Club. J.B. was committed to the community and surrounding area and began caring for Weiner Oak Grove Cemetery at an early age. He served as chairman of the Oak Grove Cemetery Association until his death.

J.B. was preceded in death by his parents, Jennings Bryan and Jessie Huber, a brother, Albert Lewis Huber, a sister, Margaret Huber Winters, and two infant grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie Day Huber of the home, a son, Bryan Huber and wife Marsha of Jonesboro; a daughter Maribeth Thomas and husband Patrick of Louisville, Ky; granddaughters, Laura Person and husband Barrett of West Memphis, Lisa Thompson and husband Brian of Jonesboro; grandson, Stewart Thomas and wife Rebecca of Raleigh, NC; a great granddaughter, Caroline Thompson of Jonesboro; and a sister, Juanita Keller of Weiner.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Dr. Thomas E. Day, Ray Keller, Patrick Thomas, Stewart Thomas, Brian Thompson, and Barrett Person. Serving as honorary pallbearers are S.P. Schwarz, Buddy Schwarz, Sammy Rorex, Charles Givens, and Tommy Wofford.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday at the Weiner Christian Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Dan Douglass officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner with Dan Douglass and Alvis Brown officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Weiner.

Memorials honoring J.B. Huber may be made to Oak Grove Cemetery, PO Box 361, Weiner, AR 72479.

JB and Marjorie are two very special people to my heart. They lived-out the faith they proclaimed. When I was a child and preteen, the two of them would pick me up on Sunday morning and took me to church. I remember eating with them after church. JB and Marjorie led me to salvation and baptism. Throughout my life, my choices weren't always aligned with God, but every time that I saw the two of them, I felt loved. The two of them hold a very special place in my heart and my family's. I'll see you again, JB. I love you and Marjorie.

Maribeth, know that you and your whole family will be in our prayers during this difficult time. Tim just lost his mother 3 weeks ago and though it was sad, we DID have the joyous hope that she spent her first Christmas in heaven. We will pray for grace and strength daily for you and your family.
