Joe A. Smith, 84, of Bono, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at NEA Baptist Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born in Bono, Arkansas on June 17, 1925 to Orvis D. and Ella James Smith. He was a retired farmer and later worked in construction, he loved horses and mules and going dancing at the senior citizens group on Church Street. He was a member of the Church of God 7th Day.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Terry and Ann Smith of Bono; a daughter and husband, Connie and Larry Hicks of Bono; five grandchildren, Timothy Burns, Tiffeny Sands, Katie Eoff, Chance Smith and Sommer Smith; two brothers, Kenneth Smith of Bono and Elvis Smith of West Memphis; and a sister, Willie Grissom of Bono.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Smith, Parents, Orvis and Ella Smith, one son, Timothy Smith, one daughter, Sheila Smith, three sisters, Evelyn Tate, Carmen Davis and Inez Bryant, and two brothers, Orvis Smith and Bobby D. Smith.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 31 at Church of God 7th Day on Washington Street with Dewayne Ford officiating. Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
