Riley Futrell, 79, of Jonesboro, passed away on Friday October 23, 2009, at his home. He was born in Jonesboro on December 5, 1929, to the late Ralph and Edna Gambill Futrell. Mr. Futrell retired from the Jonesboro Sun after 35 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and loved playing pool and bingo.

He leaves behind his daughter, Patricia Crase of Jonesboro; three sisters, Alice Barnett of Mishawake IN, Dorothy Smith of Nashville IN, and Eunice Hickman of Jonesboro; a grandson, Neil Crase of Jonesboro; and a great grandson, Devin Crase of Almo TN.

He was preceded in death by wife, Ella Futrell; and a sister, Willie Bell Gandy.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church in Jonesboro with Rev. Hunt and Rev. Williams officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
