August 2, 1923 - July 13, 2016

Jackie (Geneva Mae) Jordan Yarbrough, born August 2, 1923 in Lonoke County, Arkansas, passed into eternity surrounded by her family on July 13, 2016 in Dallas,Texas at the age of 93 after a long and full life.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband A. E. Yarbrough, two grandchildren, Clifton "Clif" Travis and Lucy Travis Mercer, as well as her adored parents, Thelma Pearcy Jordan and Manley L. Jordan, her infant sister, Mary Nell, and five cherished brothers: Milford, Glenn, Harold, Carroll, and Travis Jordan. She was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother.

Jackie was raised on the Jordan family farm in the rural community of Central located a few miles outside of England, Arkansas. After graduating from England High School in 1940, she attended Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Arkansas, where she ran track and was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. Subsequently, Jackie taught Latin and Social Studies in the Central, Wright and England, Arkansas schools. On June 14, 1944 she was married to Albert Eugene "Gene" Yarbrough at her parents home in Central. They were blessed with three daughters who survive: Susan Schendle (H. The Yarbrough family completed the move of their farming and fur businesses from Arkansas to northeast Louisiana in 1970 making their new home in Winnsboro, LA where Jackie was active in the Garden Gate Study Club and the Winnsboro Garden Club. She served as a member and officer for the Franklin Parish Medical Center Auxillary for over 30 years and was a devoted and lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

Affectionately known as "Mama Jack" to family and close friends, when asked about her greatest accomplishment in life, she replied, "being a mother and raising our three daughters." Her kindness, friendship, loyalty and compassion will continue to be reflected in the lives she touched with generosity and service.

Susan, Jeannie & Mary Beth
Condolences from myself, Allen & Melissa on the loss of your mother. I guess Miss Jackie (as I always remember her) married into the Yarbrough (Goode) family when I was about 9 years old. I really got to know her when I went into the seventh grade and she was one of my teachers. I learned what a great person she was and always cherished her as a family member after that even though I did not see her often, especially after going off to college. Prayers for all of you.
