Eugene Marion Rice, 87, of England went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 28, 2009. He was born April 2, 1922 in Coy, Arkansas to Grover Cleveland Rice and Grace Edna Bloom.

Mr. Rice graduated from England High School in 1941, was a farmer and an active member of First United Methodist Church of England. He was very active in the Tomberlin Methodist Church for most of his life and took pride in the fact that he turned out the light when the church disbanded. He was very active as a member of the Coy Masonic Lodge and England Masonic Lodge #507, the Sahara Shrine and Court 38 Royal Order of the Jesters. Charter member of The New Gin in Coy, Arkansas, former president and member of England School Board and American Legion as well as on the Board of Directors for Production Credit Assoc

Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of fifty-nine years, Bertha Ellen Tyler in 2004, two sisters; Lurline Johnson and Marguerite Lashbrook and one brother, Van Rice. He is survived by one son, Jerry Rice and wife Kathy of Coy, AR., two daughters; Marion Carlton and her husband Monroe of Conway, AR. and Grace Ellen Rice of Little Rock, AR., three grandchildren; Miranda Pascoe and her husband Ross of Little Rock, AR., Meredith Lemons and her husband Jason of Scott, AR. and Mandy Rice of England, AR; a great-grandson, Aiden Pascoe of Little Rock, AR; a brother, Carl Rice and his wife Johnna of Little Rock; a niece Margaret Anne Pleasants of Little Rock, AR; four nephews, Brady Rice and his wife Sheila of England, AR, Van Rice and his wife Diane of England, AR, Henry Rowland of San Francisco, CA and Fred Rowland and his wife Terri of Little Rock, AR and a great-nephew Luke Rowland of Little Rock, AR.

The family will receive friends at Roller-England Funeral Home (501)842-3939, 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, October 30, 2009.

Funeral services will be at the England First United Methodist Church, Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 10:00 A.M.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of England or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
