Betty Boyd Goldsby
Betty Boyd Goldsby
January 14, 1923 - October 2, 2009

Betty Boyd Goldsby, 86, went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2009. She was born to Eagle and Johnnie Boyd on January 14, 1923, in Blakemore, Arkansas. She was the fifth of six children and was the last surviving. Her husband Miles D. Goldsby passed away in 2007.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Goldsby and his wife Paulette of Little Rock and Boyd Goldsby and his wife Joanne of England; two granddaughters, Shannon Pumphrey and husband Adam of England and Greta Goldsby Dunlap and husband Justin of Austin, Texas; one great-grandchild, John Miles Dunlap of whom she was very fond.

She always put others before herself and was a wonderful mother. Much of her life she was a teacher, starting in the early 1940’s at Central, a small country school between England and Lonoke, and culminating after teaching a number of years in the Special Education Department at Arkansas State University in the mid 1980’s. Even though she started drawing retirement pay, she really never stopped teaching goodness and kindness in life and will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched.

We wish to extend a special thanks to the staff and her friends at Golden Years Manor in Lonoke for the care and love they gave her the last part of her life.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer’s Arkansas Programs and Services or Caney Creek Baptist Church, Highway 31 South, Lonoke, Arkansas, the church she attended growing up.

Visitation will be at Roller-England Funeral Home, 201 Stuttgart Hwy., England, Arkansas (501-842-3939) Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 5-7 p.m.

Services will be conducted at Roller-England Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2009 with burial in Mulberry Cemetery, England.
