Gladys E. Murray 91, of Shirley, Arkansas after a long illness she went home to be with Jesus Sunday, January 3, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving and caring family. She was born June 14, 1918 at Brumley, Missouri to the late Theodore and Alta Mae Sutliff McClain.
Gladys married Ray Murray December 18, 1937. To this union was born seven children, five sons and two daughters.
Her husband, Ray preceded her in death August 1, 1992, also preceding her are her parents, a brother, Lowell McClain, a daughter, Alta Ray Murray Watts, and a son, Dale Edward Murray.
She is survived by her sister, Goldia McClain Murray, four sons and their wives, Sherman Murray and Hazel of Greenbrier, Ar; Gary Murray and Peggy of Washburn, MO; Lowell Murray and Peggy of Centerton, AR; Johnny Murray and Rosemary of Seligman, MO; one daughter, Treby Murray Davis and Randy of Anderson, MO; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren with two on the way; six great-great grandchildren with one on the way; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
She spent most of her life in Shirley. In 1962 she moved to Seligman, MO. There, she and her husband purchased a hotel. For 20 years she stayed busy. She started her own business putting a cafe in the hotel. Later she went to work at the Farmers Exchange as a store clerk. She retired and moved back to Shirley.
Gladys was a seasoned seamstress. She also loved playing the piano at church and preaching the Word of God whenever she was asked. She was a member of the Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Shirley. She was also a member of Zion Word Church of Anderson, MO.
Casketbearers will be grandsons: Kenny Murray, Rex Murray, and Seth Davis. Great grandsons: Shelby Branscum, and Justin Green and Grandson in laws: Jim Whisenant, and Billy Sampson.
Services will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, January 5, 2010 Visitation will start at 1:00pm prior to service at Maranatha Assembly of God Church Shirley, Arkansas with Dr. Randy Davis (son-in-law) pastor of Zion Word Church of Anderson, MO officiating. Burial will follow at Settlement Cemetery Shirley, Arkansas.
Funeral Arrangements are under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.

Granny Gladys, it's been eleven long years without you. I think about you, Aunt Goldie and grandpa Dale often. I miss our talks. I miss your smile. I miss when you'd say, "Don't come in yet, i ain't got my hair on." I love you so much. I hope I make you proud.
