Mary Elizabeth Wells
August 19, 1927 - July 11, 2009

Mary Elizabeth (Douthitt) Wells, 81, of Cave City died Saturday, July 11, 2009 in a Little Rock hospital.
She was born in Batesville on August 19, 1927 to Carl and Mills (Gardner) Douthitt. Mary was a graduate of Batesville High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cave City where she was the pianist for many years. She also worked with her husband, Sloan in the family business, Roe Wells Mercantile Store of Cave City. Mary was very accomplished at cross-stitching and also loved to work crossword puzzles and read. Mary was also a visitation hostess at Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home in Cave City for many years. Another of her favorite pass times was going out to eat at the area restaurants. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her son, Tommy Wells and his wife, Teresa of Raleigh, North Carolina; daughters: Ann James of Cave City and Susan Brown and her husband, Ben of Mountain View; grandchildren: Laura Childers and her husband, Mark of Cave City, Aaron James and his wife, Meagan also of Cave City, and Joshua Wells of Raleigh; great-grandchildren: Cheyenne Childers, Cody Childers and Allie James all of Cave City;
a brother: Joe Douthitt of Orlando, Florida; and a sister, Sara Anders of Conway.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sloan Wells; a son-in-law, Kenneth James; a brother, John Douthitt; a sister, Sue Heinen and an infant sister, Jean Douthitt.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Cave City with Ron Canard officiating.
Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
Burial will follow the services at Cave City Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers will be Ben Brown, Aaron James, Mark Childers, Paul Wayne Johnson, Wayne Goodman, and Cederic Etheridge. Honorary pallbearers are Joshua Wells and Tom Penn.
