Doris Knight Maraman died April 20, 2009 at the Calico Rock Hospital in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 78. She was born October 21, 1930 in Alton, Illinois and was the daughter of Ernest M. and Janie Lucille (Haygood) Knight.
Doris obtained a degree in Fashion Merchandising from Ray-Vogue College of Design in Chicago, Illinois in 1950. She was also an accomplished musician and played the piano and organ for various churches, including Hawkins United Methodist Church in Vicksburg, Mississippi and Spring River Presbyterian Church in Hardy, Arkansas. She was also the accompanist for Gold in the Hills in Vicksburg for many years. Her musical talent was a gift which touched the hearts of many.
Mrs. Maraman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert F. Maraman; and a brother, Robert E. Knight.
She is survived by a son, Robert Alan Maraman and his wife, Linda Watson Maraman; a daughter, Lisa Dabney and her husband, Reverend. L. Bryan Dabney, III; and three grandchildren: Rebecca Alison Maraman, Jeffrey Alan Maraman and Thomas Bryan Dabney.
A memorial services will be held in Hardy, Arkansas at a later date.
