Mamie Lavada Craig

Mamie Lavada Craig, 95, of Mount Pleasant died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at her home. She was born in Gid, Arkansas on August 3, 1914 and was the daughter of Louis A. Harvell and Charity (Matthews) Harvell. Mamie enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Quilting Club and the Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by a son: Harold Craig of Mount Pleasant and one daughter: Carole Brown also of Mount Pleasant; four grandchildren: Tim Massey of Mount Pleasant, ToJo Massey of Melbourne, Davonda Lawrence of Melbourne, and Denise Bailey of Sidney; nine great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Menard Harvell of Melbourne; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Craig; one sister, Jewell Qualls; and one brother: Delbert Harvell. Pallbearers will be Larry Love, Shelby Qualls, Bobby Qualls, Dennis Dobbs, Howard Lamb, and Mark Herrington. Honorary pallbearers are Chase Massey, Cameron Massey, Jordan Lawrence, Jeremy Lawrence, Daniel Bailey, David Bailey, and Nathan George. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant with Bro. J. W. Roach and Bro. Jerry Taylor officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Chinquapin Cemetery, Mount Pleasant, under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
