Junius "June" E Hamby

Junius E. “June” Hamby, 85, of Calico Rock, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at the Community Medical Center of Izard County. He was born July 22, 1923 in Elmo, Arkansas and was the son of John Henry and Louanna (Sexton) Hamby. He was an Army veteran of World War II and participated in D-Day invasion in Normandy on Omaha Beach. He was injured in the war and received the Purple Heart Award. June was a lifetime member of the Veteran’s of Foreign War, the American Legion, and the Disabled American Veteran’s. He is survived by his wife, Mozella (White) Hamby; two sons: Paul Hamby and his wife, Joyce of Calico Rock and Philip Hamby and his wife, Donna of Mountain Home; three grandchildren: Sean Hamby, Jennifer Hamby and Danny Hamby; two great-grandchildren: Molli Hamby and John McFarland; two brothers: William “Bill” Hamby and Thomas “Tom” Hamby both of Calico Rock; and one sister, Launa Kimberling of Cleburne, TX. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Lonnie Hamby; two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Howard Chapel in Calico Rock with Rev. GaleWooten officiating. Burial will follow the services at Table Rock Cemetery in Culp under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday also at Howard Chapel. Pallbearers will be Kenny Hamby, Denny Hamby, Greg Hamby, Doran White, Jason Bruggeman and Wayne Pinkston.
