Nathaniel Glen Woodruff

June 18, 1990 - October 15, 2018

Nathan Woodruff, age 28, of Benton, died October 15, 2018. Nathan will be remembered as an excellent husband and tender-hearted daddy. A true firstborn son and a tenacious protector to his four brothers, he was quick-witted and steadfast, a faithful friend that was loyal to no end. Nathan was the guy you called when you needed to fix anything under the sun with his magic hands; he was extremely dependable and always generous with his time and talents.

Nathan could almost always be found in the woods or his workshop; he had an unparalleled appreciation for nature and God's creation. Oh, how he loved to take something old and make it new again. He was a skilled craftsman that was always covered in sawdust which he affectionately called ''man-glitter.'' Nathan was a keen observer and when commissioned to make a custom piece, he could pick up intricate details about their personality that would then appear in his creations. He was always running his hands up and down the wood looking for imperfections until it was ready. He took great pride and care in delivering his handiwork, for he was a master craftsman. Not only did he love creating, but loved nature and all that God had created. Nathan was an avid outdoorsman and so loved the quiet mornings of the hunt where his heart was totally at peace in the presence of creatures big and small. Nathan stewarded well every resource in creation: nature, animals, and relationships.

A lover of the written word, his favorite literary author was J.R.R. Tolkien, and he was constantly quoting his work from The Lord of the Rings series; he never tired of the epic battle of good versus evil, where good, indeed, did win. Tolkien said, ''All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us,'' and Nathan lived this out. He was never idle; he didn't waste a minute of precious time when he could be completing a task or doing for others. He surrounded himself with noble, manly men who lived life well beside him as they lived out Isaiah 32:8, which declares ''A noble man makes noble plans and by noble deeds he stands.'' His legacy of hard work was learned from his father and then passed on to his son, Liam. Nathan has left the legacy of a good name for his son to carry on.

His family is forever thankful for the twenty-eight years with Nathan. He was a gentle giant known for his hard work and strong protectiveness over those that needed him most. He'll be missed extra during bedtime stories with Liam, time spent in his workshop, dinners around the family table, and pipe time with his father and brothers. We'll miss him every moment until we see him again one sweet day. Nathan was so loved by his wife, Gabby and son, Liam, his parents, Glen and Tamra, brothers, Aaron, Josh, Asa and Seth, and the multitude of grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles in his life.

Visitation Services are planned for Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.

We can celebrate Nathan's life on this day because of the fervent trust he had in the blood of Jesus to give him eternal security. Isaiah the prophet foretold this when he wrote, ''in that day they will say, 'Surely this is our God; we trusted in Him, and He saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in Him; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.''

In lieu of flowers a trust has been set up for Liam Woodruff through Raymond James Financial Services. Checks can be mailed and made payable to Raymond James with ''Liam Woodruff'' in the memo. The mailing address is 11400 Parkside Dr. Ste. 200; Knoxville, TN, 37934.
