Franklin R. Newton, 85, of Little Rock departed this life on December 8, 2017. Frank was born, raised, and educated in Louisiana. He was a former high school teacher. He moved to Arkansas in 1961 as District Manager for Cities Service Oil Company and enjoyed living in Conway, Fort Smith, and Little Rock. Frank retired as Vice President of Operations at Affiliated Foods in 1998 after 29 years of service.
Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army and former Gideon. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir. He also enjoyed golf and traveling. He was a member of Immanual Baptist Church and was most happy when he was working at the Food Pantry and at the recreation desk at the church.
He was married to his devoted wife of 56 years, Pat, and the father of 3 wonderful sons, Brian, Todd (Jill), and Josh (Rachael) and the grandfather of 7 spectacular grandchildren - Beau, Baron, Jack, Drew, Lily, Elle, and Claire. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Food Pantry, Alzheimers Arkansas, Gideons International, and the Friendly Chapel.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Friday December 15, 2017 at Roller Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR 72211, (501) 224-8300. A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Roller Chenal Funeral Home.
I knew Frank for 41 years as a Superior, Customer and Friend. He was 4 stars in every category and the real meaning of the word man. I always held him in highest respect and I'll miss him in the future!!!!
Frank was faithful in his service to Immanuel Baptist Church, and had a positive Christian influence on all who knew him. We were especially blessed by his humble wit as he manned the Rec Center check-in.
Dear Pat and family,
Hilda and I send our prayers and condolences to you at this time in your life. We admired Frank greatly and considered him a wonderful person. We also fondly remember the community group meetings we had that your home and of course our association at church. Know that you're in our prayers. May God's peace be upon you

Todd, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. My deepest sympathy to you and all of your family.
Dear Brian, Todd, Josh and Families: We are so sorry to learn of your loss. We can imagine your Mom smiling with open arms and saying “Welcome Home, Frank”. They always will be dear in our hearts for the love and time that they poured into us as young couples seeking to raise our children. We are so thankful God allowed our paths to cross. What a great legacy of faith they have left to us who were touched by their lives. May we be faithful to carry on this Shining Light to future generations. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
