Glenn E. Pasvogel

of Little Rock, AR

May 14, 1945 - January 30, 2017

Glenn E. Pasvogel, Jr. died on Monday morning January 30, 2017. He was born May 14, 1945, in Evanston, Illinois. His parents, Glenn Edgar Pasvogel, Sr. and Jeane Ray Pasvogel, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Hunt; a sister, Donna Havemann (Bob) of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; a brother, Guy Pasvogel (Jackie) of Springboro, Ohio; two nephews, Erik Richards (Paige) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Leif Richards (Tarina) of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; a niece, Julie Richards of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; two stepsons, Robbie Hunt (Susan) of Milford, Connecticut, and Alan Hunt (Lesley Clark) of Little Rock; and a step-granddaughter, Vivian Hunt of Little Rock.

Glenn attended Dana College and graduated from Elmhurst College. He obtained his J.D. Degree from DePaul Law School in Chicago and his Master of Laws from the University of Illinois in Champaign Urbana. Following a judicial clerkship, he was hired as a professor of law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law in 1971 (now William H. Bowen School of Law). He taught there until his retirement in 2006, and during his tenure he served for a period as Interim Dean of the law school.

Glenn loved teaching and he loved people. Another great love of his life was the Chicago Cubs, and one of his greatest joys was to live to see the Cubs win the World Series in 2016 for the first time since 1908. Glenn frequently led a lucky group of law students to Wrigley Field to see the Cubs play, and they had an equally good time whether the Cubs won or lost. He is likely responsible for making Cubs fans out of as many people as anyone. And it is unlikely that Glenn took many trips out of state that didn't include running into a friend or former student, all of whom loved to reminisce with him.

Glenn's sense of humor was notorious among his family, friends, and students. He loved showing up to chemo and shocking the nurses with his latest slightly off-color tee shirt. He appreciated each and every person at CARTI who was so kind to him during his year of treatment, especially Debbie, who always brought him his favorite nutrition drink and stayed around to talk about the books that each of them was reading, and the lovely chemo nurses, too numerous to mention by name, who listened to his jokes and brightened his days. He also appreciated the care and concern of his oncologist, Dr. Diane Wilder.

Glenn loved animals and rescued a number, especially during his later life. He provided an amazing life for Plato and then for Velcro, his beloved cats. Glenn supported numerous charitable organizations but in his memory please make donations to the Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn Rd., Little Rock, AR 72210, or on the website.

Glenn spent a number of his last years at Elmcroft of Maumelle where he was treated with care and kindness and grew to think of the staff as family. Glenn's family thanks each of those people who treated Glenn as though he were a member of their own family.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR 72211 (501) 224-8300. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m, followed by a service where all family, friends, and former students are welcome to share their favorite ''Glenn'' stories.

I had Professor Pasvogel in the late 1990s and he was a true gentleman. He was always upbeat, always helpful, and loved a good story whether he was hearing it or telling it. He will be missed.

A truly great Cubs fan. I enjoyed our trips to Wrigley. I am sure he decided he could rest after last season. I am also Si re he is talking to Ernie Banks about the Series and the Cubs win. Sorry I missed Sunday. He was a friend.

Max and I are in Chile so will miss the service Sunday. Glenn was an old and valued friend. If I were able to attend I would have to share this story. An old saying goes, the A student becomes a law professor, the B student a judge and the C student a practicing lawyer. Glenn added, and the D student a legislator. I will miss him.

It was the vast threads of law that wove our lives together at first. If it had not been for a respect of justice and the goal of providing quality legal representation for everyone., we might have just passed each other along life's path. However, as the seasons passed, we grew closer because of our many common interests, foremost was an appreciation of rivers and hiking, sleeping under the stars and simply sharing time. Regardless of distance or workload, ours was a relationship that lasted many decades. It would have been wonderful to have cleared our calendars for more adventures, parties and meals - then, we learn the REAL 'value of time' at moments like this -- as well as how precious old friends can truly be.
Condolences to all who loved and admired this fine fellow.

I was part of the lucky group of students that went to see the Cubs playin 1993 and 1994. We had such a great time, and Professor Pasvogel was the life of the party. I've got the pictures to prove it! I'm very sorry to learn of his passing. He was a remarkable man. Please accept my sympathies for your loss.
