Eathel Mae Reed Meeks

February 10, 1930 - November 13, 2016

Eathel Mae Reed Meeks, 86, of Rison, went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2016. She was born February 10, 1930 in Rison to the late, Ollie Shelton and Tommie Reed.

She was preceded in death by husband, David E. Meeks; son, David E. Meeks, Jr.; three brothers, Jay, John and Wesley Reed. Eathel is survived by daughter, Brenda Meeks; sons, Kenneth (Vickie) Meeks, Richard (Treill) Meeks; granddaughter, Jaime (Jamie) Johnson, Staci (Wade) Stewart, Maegan (Lance) Buttrum, and Kayla Meeks; grandsons, Justin (Sara) Meeks, Taylor Meeks, Landon (Laikin) Meeks, Jason (Kim) Meeks; and fifteen great-grandchildren; and sisters, Opal Kimbrell and Ann Whittington, both of Rison.

Eathel was retired from Safeway, a homemaker and a faithful member of Bethel No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church in Rison, Arkansas.

Funeral service with Bro. John Fulmer officiating will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Bethel No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church, 2230 Hwy 35 North, Rison, Arkansas 71665 with burial to follow at Wilson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are grandsons, Justin, Taylor, Jason, and Landon Meeks, Jamie Johnson and Wade Stewart. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Gray, Donnie Wilson, Ronald Thompson and Darran Kea.

Special thanks to nurses, CNA's and staff at the Greenhouse Cottages of Southern Hills for their love and caring for the past 7 years and Arkansas Hospice for their wonderful care and attention.

Condolences to Ms. Eathel Mae's family. I hope you can find comfort in the promise at Acts 24:15 – “I have hope toward God, that there is going to be a resurrection of the righteous…” We can look forward to being reunited with our loved ones in peaceful and happy conditions (Psalms 37:11, 29).

We were so sorry to hear about Mrs Meeks. She was such a nice lady and will be greatly missed. We will keep all her family and friends in our prayers.

Eathel was such a good friend to everyone at the Y. I am so sorry I can not attend her services, as I will be out of state. Please know that I will be thinking of all of you and praying that precious memories of her will comfort all of you during your grief. Love and prayers to all.
