Nathan John Hartzell

of Little Rock, AR

December 25, 1958 - October 16, 2016

Nathan John Hartzell, age 57, of Little Rock went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2016 after bravely fighting a two-year battle with cancer. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 25, 1958 to Margie and Donald Hartzell. He was the 4th and youngest son of his family and his Mamma's ''Baby boy''.

Nathan was married to the ''Love of his life'', Sheila McCown Hartzell and together God blessed them with six wonderful children. Adam, Elizabeth, Ethan, Evan, Emily and Alex. Nathan graduated from Hall High School in Little Rock and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a BA in Marketing. He had strong work ethic which allowed him to have a successful 26-year career in the pharmaceutical industry, most recently with Allergan.

Nathan was passionate and competitive about sports especially baseball and softball, which he played throughout his life, and he loved the Razorbacks!!!! He was a devoted, loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who found immense pleasure in being involved in all of his children's activities. Nathan always had a positive attitude, a great sense of humor and infectious smile which his friends, family and co-workers will truly miss.

Nathan was preceded in death by his parents, Margie and Donald Hartzell and brother, Daniel Hartzell. Nathan is survived by his loving wife, Sheila; their four sons, Adam (Alexis), Ethan (Charlotte), Evan and Alex; two daughters, Elizabeth and Emily; grandchildren, Adrian, Elijah, Brady and Carter Hartzell; his siblings, Micheal Hartzell, David Hartzell, Debbie H. Glasgow Stearle, and Donna Green (John); sister-in-law, Martha Hartzell; brother-in-law, Steven McCown (Joyce); sister-in-law, Elise Hawks (Robert); as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank his doctors at CARTI and all who provided such great care for him throughout his illness.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am, October 20, 2016 at Fellowship Bible Church. A celebration of his life will take place following visitation at Fellowship Bible Church at 11:00 am. Memorials may be made to Fellowship Bible Church, 1401 Kirk Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72211.

Heaven is a greater place today with Nathan there. You fought the good fight now may you Rest In Peace!

Sheila & family,
I just discovered Nathan's passing by accident while roaming the internet. I am shocked.

I worked with Nathan at UCB years ago. He is not forgotten! I am so sorry for your loss.

Nathan was such a true gentleman with a superbly friendly demeanor. He was everyone's best friend!
He was also extremely good in sales, and a fierce competitor!

God Bless him & and your family!

Sincerely,
Michael Aaron

My prayers are with your family as this time. Nathan would often come to Neurology and he and I would talk about our teenagers and found both our families in similar situations. He was a great man and will surely be missed.

Nathan was perhaps the best sales partner a rep could have. We teamed on the launch and subsequent sales campaign of a major product our companies co-marketed approximately 20 years ago.
He was a stellar representative, a dependable partner and fierce competitor. Nathan was one of the most polite and professional men I knew in my 40 year career. Nathan combined the love of his job with respect for each physician/nurse/staff. I would think any physician would have respected his dedication and dependability in providing accurate medical information. This breaks my heart and he will always have a place in my best memories. You, his family, have lost a truly great man who was respected by his peers.

When Nat was 12 our Junior Deputy all star baseball team won state and went to regionals in Norfolk, VA. We roomed together with our coach one night, Mr. Brown, and we laughed and laughed cause he looked just like Abe Lincoln sleeping there on his back. Our high school boys club basketball team was the best and funnest ever. Nat could really shoot. What a great guy and so much fun to be around. Prayers for the family.

Sheila & family,
I had the honor of going to school with "Nat" as we called him for the first 10 yrs before he transferred to Hall. Nat was a fierce competitor, leader, great athlete and friend. He was the guy that everyone wanted to be like. You just knew he was going to have a successful life. He was a winner.
He once again has proven that by hitting a grand slam to win the biggest game of his life.

May he rest in Peace.

May family and friends find comfort in loving memories, and in knowing God is "close to those that are broken at heart and crushed in spirit." (Psalms 34:18) Our loving creator has promised to soon "swallow up death forever...and to wipe tears from all faces" (Isaiah 25:8) . With deepest sympathy.

Dear Hartzell and Lienhart Families:

I am saddened by the passing of Nathan. I lived down the street from him and played fullback behind his capable quarterbacking. I remember him a gentle and kind and intelligent, a decent man, my highest compliment.
