Byron Wesley House, Jr., 89, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 7, 2016. Byron was born in Little Rock on May 13, 1927 to the late Byron W. and Sarah Belcher House.
He graduated from Little Rock Central High School where he was a member of Delta Sigma fraternity. He graduated from Hendrix College in 1950 with degrees in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Byron served as a Medic in the United States Navy and then came home to start a career as a pharmaceutical representative for the A.H. Robins Company. He later co-founded Byron House Travel Agency with his father. Byron loved people and loved to travel. His company became very successful with Byron hosting groups that visited countries all over the world and traveled via charter bus to Arkansas Razorback games across the south. After retiring from the Travel Agency business, Byron joined his son's business, Heritage Building Systems in North Little Rock, and helped guide the company into a successful business that still thrives today.
Byron was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. He had a saying that exemplified his positive outlook on life. When someone asked how he's doing today, he always replied, "Every day's a good day!"
Byron was married to Pat Wood House and they had six children. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Mark House and Scott House. He is survived by two sons and two daughters; Byron House III (Shae) of Little Rock, Leah Carpenter of North Little Rock, Missy Thornton (Charlie) of Sherwood and John House (Lisa) of Little Rock. He is also survived by his loving companion of many years, Barbara Lee Teas of Houston, Texas, as well as, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service to celebrate Byron's life will be held at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in Little Rock at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 15, 2016 with Reverend Lynn Lindsey officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. After the service and reception an inurnment and wake will be held at Bearitage Farms, Cherry Valley, Arkansas.

Daddy By was man full of character and life, and it showed in his approach to each day. I remember good talks and many laughs with him during my Heritage days. I wonder if we are doing a good job with replenishing the type of individuals that Daddy By's generation seemed to have in abundance. My prayers to his family and well wishes for his last great vacation.
