of Little Rock, AR
December 13, 1951 - July 1, 2016
Douglas Campbell Wilkerson was reunited with his loving mother, father and brother on July 1, 2016. The Wynne, Arkansas native attended Arkansas State University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha and Student Government.
Mr. Wilkerson was well known for his ventures in the food service industry. Through the years, he served as the team caterer for the Arkansas Razorbacks, fed thousands of children at Pulaski Academy and kept downtown Little Rock awash in barbeque sauce and gravy from his restaurants, Lucky 7 Diner and Capitol Smokehouse and Grill. Always humble, when asked if he was a ''chef'', Wilkerson would always respond, ''No, I'm just the cook''.
He loved taking his family to Disney World, listening to Jimmy Buffet's music, good wine and a dirty joke. He knew the power of a handshake and the value of good conversation.
Doug Wilkerson loved and is survived by his wife Candy, his sons, Brad and Blake, his brother-in-law, Trey Crawford and his dachshund, Willis.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas, 501-224-8300.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Arkansas, 507-227-6166. http://warmhearts.org/donations/honorariums/

Candy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Doug was a always such a joy to visit with! We love you guys and will keep you all in our prayers!
When the State Library relocated from the Capitol complex to 900 West Capitol Ave., we were blessed to discover the Capitol Smokehouse across the street. Over the last 6+ years my staff and I have enjoyed many wonderful lunches and shared many great conversations with Doug and Candy. We are thinking of Candy, Brad, Blake, and Trey and praying they will find comfort in the expressions of sympathies from family and friends. Thank you, Doug, for adding some spice to our lives! Rest in peace.
Good man, good neighbor, good friend. I already miss him. God bless Candy, Brad, Blake, and Trey. RIP my friend. I'll see you on the other side.

I'll miss Doug and his "Crustyness!" He was always straight with you and boy did he like "picken" for that treasure. It was always exciting meeting with him and Candy over a good meat at the smokehouse. I hate it was over insurance...that always got him going! But our hour long talks were awesome. I'm going to miss you Doug!
Candy and family,
I am so very sorry to hear the sad news about Doug. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Warm regards,
Tom

So sorry to hear that Doug had passed away. What started out as a business relationship turned into a friendship over the years, something dozens of others can also say. Doug was a humble guy who created the most amazing pulled pork sandwich. Doug had a hard time accepting praise for his cooking. Always the perfectionist, you could brag on his BBQ only to hear Doug say that he had made better. Doug was one of the truly good guys and it was a pleasure to have known him. We will miss his wonderful BBQ but we will miss his smile more. Rest in peace, Doug, you shall always be remembered.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family !
Candy and family,
Doug was one good man. My prayers and sympathies go out to you all. Little Rock' BBQ restauranteurs has lost one of their best, but I bet he's probably cooking one fine meal for St. Peter & everyone at the Pearly Gates!
Hugs to you all.
Hey Doug, thanks for the great grub and great conversation over the last few years. I'm a better, and bigger, man for it. I'll miss you. If I'm lucky, I'll see you again one day.
