Martha Hoover

of Little Rock,

October 9, 1931 - August 20, 2015

Martha Jane Nordman Hoover, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at her son's home in Le Claire, Iowa. Jane was born October 9, 1931 in Little Rock, Arkansas to George Leighton and Aislee Nordman. She attended school in Little Rock, graduating from Little Rock High School in 1949. She later began a what would prove to be a long career with Arkansas Farm Bureau. In 1955, she married George A. Hoover Jr.

Over the years, Jane was active in several organizations including: Auxiliary of the Little Rock Fire Department, American Business Women's Association, Vista Club, and Away We Go Travel. She was a fifty year member of the Eastern Star-Ester Chapter #217. She was a long time member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and the Sunshine Sunday School Class.

Upon her retirement from Arkansas Farm Bureau, Jane returned to her true loves: traveling, gardening, and shopping. She shared many exciting trips and shopping adventures with her dear friend, Mary Munn. Together these two ladies truly gave new meaning to ''shop'til you drop''. Jane was happiest on the go, especially when she and Mary would take their special friend, Bandit, for rides in the car.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, George A. Hoover, Jr.; her parents, George Leighton and Aislee Nordman; her brothers, Leighton, Morgan, and Robert Nordman. She is survived by her brother, Lester (Josephine) Nordman and sister, Norma (Edgar) Lauderdale, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jane has two children, Eric Dale (April) Hoover and Cheryl (John) Hüsman; six grandchildren, Jessica (Bo) Cheshire; Felicia (Brandon) Hoover, Rebecca Hoover, Schuylar Hüsman, Joshua Hoover, and Zachary Hoover.

I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Hoover. I was her and Hoover's neighbor for several years. They were both so kind to me. I really enjoyed living next to them.

My thoughts & prayers go out to the family. She will be missed. Jane would stop by the credit union every so often to visit. She was one that always wanted to catch up on the Farm Bureau happenings. I always enjoyed her coming in to visit. She loved to stay in the know. At least now she can go be with her loving husband Hoover that she talked so much about.

Jane hired me at Farm Bureau in 1988 and I worked with her until her retirement. She was a funny lady to be around with all the remarks and questions she always had. I enjoyed seeing her and hearing about her trips when she came into the Bureau to make her payments for Insurance. I will miss her, and my condolences to her son, daughter, and rest of her family and friends. God Bless You All

My heart goes out to all of Jane's loved ones and cherished friends. I am so sorry for your loss. "Aunt" Jane was always a bundle of energy and never at a loss for words. It was always a hoot to be around her! I'm glad I got to know her and "Uncle Hoover" in my life. They were both very special people to me. Heartfelt big hugs to Norma and Amy. Love, Gwen
