William Glen McDonald, M.D.I am a Veteran.

of Little Rock, AR

November 22, 1945 - March 23, 2015

William Glen McDonald, M.D., 69, of Little Rock left this Earth for his heavenly home on March 23, 2015. He was born November 22, 1945 to the late William and Donnis Thompson McDonald in Ripley, Mississippi.

Dr. McDonald was a longtime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force and was awarded the Air Medal for his service in Vietnam where he served three tours as a pilot. He was a major in the Civil Air Patrol. William was a medical doctor for over 30 years, specializing in Emergency Medicine. He was Past-President of the Mississippi Emergency Physicians Association, an associate professor at UAMS, and a co-founder of META (Medical Emergency and Trauma Associates).

William truly enjoyed photography, and wildlife didn't stand a chance against his skilled use of a lens. He was a co-founder and past master of the Ferndale Hunt. William was also an avid ham radio operator known on the air as ''K5NLX.''

He will be missed by many, and most of all, his wife of 15 years, Ginger J. McDonald; sons: William ''Chip'' Jennings McDonald of Los Angeles, CA, Morgan McDonald (Lauren) of Bryant; and Owen McDonald; daughters: Brittany McDonald of North Little Rock and Lydia Hamlet (Boyce) of Conway; two grandchildren, Sawyer Elise Hamlet and Kinsley McDonald; and a brother, David Charles McDonald (Gaye) of Longmont, CO.

William's life will be celebrated in a funeral service at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1 Covenant Drive, Little Rock, AR 72211, (501)228-5903 with Pastor Tim Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M. before the funeral.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Know that the McDonald family is in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. My mother Rosebud Givens Davis was a friend of Bill's mother, Donnis and also lived right down the street from Donnis when mama married my step father and also we all grew up in the same church in Cleveland, MS together. David was a classmate of my husband, Bob. Hugs to all.

Dear Ginger and family,
Dr. Mac as we all called him at the Ar. Heart hospital and Southwest hospital was loved by everyone. He was one of my favorite docs. My prayers and thoughts are with you and his family.

Ginger and family,

Having known Bill for almost 30 years and having had the privilege of being his friend it is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye for now. Bill was a mentor when I was a resident and, although he might not have been aware, continued to be throughout his life. In the early 90's was a major influence in bringing together a group of some of the best ED physicians in the country and it was my honor to have been a part of that legacy.
He will not only be sorely missed as a friend but also as a teacher and an inspiration for the hurdles he had to overcome as his short time came to an end.

Ginger;
I will miss Bill very much... I looked forward to seeing the two of you on the back row and especially serving Communion to you both. I admired his strong spirit and uncomplaining attitude for many years, as well as your faithfulness as a member at Covenant. I am praying for God's peace to surround you and your family in this time when Bill has left this world and has been welcomed to his heavenly home.
