Ruby Mildred Jackson Ramer

of Little Rock, AR

November 28, 1918 - March 14, 2015

Ruby Mildred Jackson Ramer of Little Rock was born November 28, 1918, in Morrilton, AR to Adam and Susie Jackson. She arrived in Heaven on March 14, 2015, at the age of 96.

During her lifetime, Ruby lived in Morrilton and Plummerville, AR until she met and married Raymond Loyd Ramer and started her family. In order to pursue business opportunities, Loyd moved the family to Fort Smith in 1950, and then in 1957 moved again to Little Rock to become President of Merchants and Transfer and Warehouse Co.

The family has observed that one of Ruby's main legacies was her trait of being patient and adaptable. Like many of her generation, she lived through the Great Depression and World War II so she learned to ''make do'' with very little and still be happy. As business success and lifestyle changes came with the move to Little Rock, Ruby had to learn to adjust in a different way as Loyd became President of Pleasant Valley Country Club and was a National Board Member of United Van Lines. She loved to travel, and she accompanied Loyd to United conventions. After his death in 1980, she traveled around the United States with her widow friends.

Ruby was an active member of the Ruth Bible Class and Women's Missionary Union at Immanuel Baptist Church until she became a resident of Nursing and Rehab Center at Good Shepherd. She also was president of her garden club and loved bird watching.

We are grateful for the many years we shared with our mother and are secure in the knowledge that when she opened her eyes in Heaven, she was in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the entire staff at Nursing and Rehab Center at Good Shepherd for the love and care our mother received from them. We watched her show love and compassion to the other residents in her own unassuming, but very special way.

She was preceded in death her by husband, Raymond Loyd Ramer; her parents; four sisters; and four brothers. She is survived by her sons: Bob Ramer (Pat), Jack Ramer (Lee), Joe Ramer (Rosanne), and John Ramer; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR 72211, (501)224-8300, with Dr. Rex M. Horne, Jr. and Dr. Paul R. Sanders officiating. Private interment will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park, North Little Rock. The family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Immanuel Baptist Church, 501 N. Shackleford Road, Little Rock, AR 72211, (501) 376-3071 or to a charity of your choice.

As a deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church, it was my honor and privilege to visit with Ms. Ruby from time to time, to just check in on her or to observe the Lord's Supper with her. Both my children were fortunate enough to get to visit with her and we all will miss her sweet spirit. Heaven's gain is our loss. Our prayers are with the family.
