October 4, 1932 - July 15, 2014

Arthur Lee Eastin III was born in St. Louis, MO. on October 4, 1932 to Arthur Lee Eastin Jr. and Cornelia Krell Eastin, both preceded him in death. Art passed away July 15, 2014 at Arkansas hospice at St. Vincents Hospital after several bouts of pneumonia.

Art and his family moved to Little Rock when he was in the tenth grade when his dad was transferred from the VA in St. Louis to the N. Little Rock VA. hospital.

He graduated from Little Rock Senior High (Central High school). Then Art and some friends, who were draft age, enrolled at Ole Miss and then joined the US Navy. Art served as a medic at the US Army, Navy Hospital in Memphis, TN his whole term in the service. He came home every weekend and quite often he was teased by friends and family for never being on a ship.

Following the war he enrolled at Little Rock Junior College, it was there where he met his future wife, Marianne Shepherd, they now have been married 57 years, quite a testimony in today's world.

Art had always been an avid sports fan. He played soft ball in an industrial league for his employer, AMF cycle well into his 40's. He also bowled in a mixed league with Marianne and good friends Betty and Carroll McMillan. The foursome won a championship 5 years consecutively. They were also Razorback fans and members of the central Arkansas Razorback Club attending home and some out of town games on buses.

He was proud of his membership in the American Legion as well as the VFW and besides going to dances there, often attended Big Band Sound dances.

Having been a Methodist his whole life in later years he joined Westover Hills Presbyterian in order to worship with his grandson, now grandsons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only sibling, Jeanne Eastin Miller and her husband Bob Miller, of Longview, TX, two sisters in laws Wanda Cochran, Betty Cloud, a nephew, Joe Layman Cloud.

Survivors are his wife Marianne Shepherd Eastin and their one much loved child Andrea Eastin Campbell (Don) and their two sons Aaron K. Campbell (Jon) and Andrew C. Campbell, nieces and nephews; Kathy Cochran (Dicky) of NC, her son Zach (Irena)of FL, Steve Cochran (Dan) of LA and NC, David Cochran and Joe Cochran of LR, Gary Miller and his children Jacob and Christian of TX, Kelly Miller Hall (Mike) of TX, her family Jeremy, Joshua, and Jessica, Terri Castleberry and her daughter Casey, Christy Adair and her family Price and Brandon, Micky Miller and his son Justin, Tracy Gallant (Ronnie) and their family Jason Alford and Michelle, Karen Cloud, David Cloud and their father the Reverend Fred Cloud, all of Nashville, TN.

A celebration of Arts life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2014 in the Chapel of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home 13801 Chenal Parkway Little Rock, AR (501) 224-8300, with a reception following at the funeral home and burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park with Reverend Frank LeBlane of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church officiating.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Vincent hospital and Arkansas Hospice for the loving care the last 2 weeks of his life.

Donations in his memory may be made to Westover Hills Presbyterian Church or the Humane Society of Pulaski County.

Marianne, I had not seen you until the Teletype luncheon I attended in October two years ago. I did not get to tell you then but I appreciated that you were always very supportive of me at Little Rock and I always remember that. I also remember meeting Art and thinking what a nice pair you made. I wish I could be there to tell you in person but it is not possible. I just want you to know that I will be thinking of you during this time of sorrow.
always,
Jack
