I had the pleasure of serving as Ms. Van Patter's homeroom mom not once but twice when both of my sons were lucky enough to have her as a teacher. I can still here her saying, "I just love Ryan!” words that every mom wants to hear. Her smile was contagious! She spoke fondly and often of her own children. It was obvious that she loved her family and her job. She will be missed but her legacy lives everyday in her children and in mine and in hundreds of other children. My sympathy and prayers go up for her family and for the King Elementary family.

Ms. Van patter, I didn't have you 4th grade but I had Ms. Spradlin. My younger brother adored you and often said that you were his favorite teacher at Martin Luther King. All of your former and present students are having the worst time trying to cope with your death. Even though I didn't have you, it still breaks my heart to know that you have passed. The good thing is that you don't have to deal with the worries and stress of the world anymore and you can rest in peace. It saddens me to know you have occupied your space in your eternal home but I know you wouldn't want us to cry tears of grief. RIP & RIL Ms. Vanpatter

Lonestars lyrics remind me of what I feel Candi would say!!!
I'm already there
Take a look around
I'm the sunshine in your hair
I'm the shadow on the ground
I'm the whisper in the wind
I'm your imaginary friend
And I know I'm in your prayers
Don't make a sound
I'm the beat in your heart
I'm the moonlight shining down
I'm the whisper in the wind
And I'll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share?
Oh, I'm already there
We may be a thousand miles apart
But I'll be with you wherever you are

I am so sorry to hear of Candi's passing. I was a few years behind her back in jr-sr high school. I got to know her some a little later when our son's played T-ball together for a year, then even a lot more so when my youngest son was in her class in the 4th grade. She was one of his favorite teachers & she was instrumental in getting him into GT classes... something we've never forgotten. We've kept in touch over the last 10-11 years since then & were very heartbroken to hear about the car wreck. We're sending our thoughts & prayers to Drew & Devin & the rest of the family. Heaven has gained another angel.
Heaven just got a little more exciting and stylish with you in it. You will be missed and we are all blessed to have been a part of the MLK Family with you. Peace be with your family in the days and weeks to come and with all those precious children who won't have you to greet them on Monday morning.
God must have needed a beautiful and kind and loving angel.
I'm inspired and humbled by the strength of Candi's children. I share in the faith of their mother's eternal spirit, but I'm going to miss my friend. I love you, Candi.
So Sorry for your loss. I came upon the wreck just as emergency responders arrived I did not know it was Candi. If I had I would have stopped . I know this hurts. I hope that God gives you peace.
