Joel Remund Jensen
April 18, 1941 - June 15, 2012

Joel Remund Jensen, 71, of Maumelle, born in Berwyn, IL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 15 after a courageous battle with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. He was the son of the late Karl W. Jensen and Rosalie Jensen of Anoka, MN and the grandson of Danish born Peter L. Jensen. His grandfather was co-inventor of the dynamic horn loudspeaker. In 1911 Peter Jensen co-founded the Magnavox Company. Subsequently, he, along with co-inventor, Edwin Pridham, developed the first public address system --- President Harding’s inaugural address was heard over the earliest Magnavox M-1 loudspeaker in 1920. His grandfather was knighted by the King of Denmark as an outstanding Danish/American inventor. The Jensen speaker company was also founded by the family.

Mr. Jensen was a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and member of Triangle Engineering Fraternity. He was president of both Jensen-Thorson Corporation in Addison, IL and the Midcor in Middlefield, OH. Mr. Jensen worked for R&G Sloane in Little Rock, AR. He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock where he participated in the STEP program for inner-city underprivileged children and Sharefest work days in the community, as well as Habitat for Humanity.

A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Sherry Jensen, of Maumelle, son, Scott Jensen, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Jensen, and two granddaughters, Leah and Emily Jensen, of Wethersfield, CT; and sister, Nancy Flock, of Durango, CO. He was pre-deceased by his son, Karl E. Jensen of Maumelle, and sister Marjorie Dirks of Anoka, MN.

A memorial service will be held at Fellowship Bible Church, Little Rock, on August 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, (501)224-8300.

Donations can be made to Fellowship Bible Church, 1401 Kirk Road, Little Rock, AR 72223.
