Walter L. Morris, Sr.
Walter L. Morris, Sr.
May 1, 1929 - October 23, 2009

Walter Lonzo Morris went to be with his Savior on Friday, October 23 in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 22 days. He was born May 1, 1929 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the fifth of nine children born of parents Andy Morris and Clara Fletcher Morris. He was a successful farmer, both professionally and privately Walter served his country during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged in 1959. He attended Crosspoint Church in Ferndale, Arkansas.

Walter Morris was a talented musician, playing guitar and composing his own songs. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He was beloved by his family and was well known for his practical jokes and funny stories. Quick witted and observant, laughter always rang out when he was near and his family loved being with him. Walter never finished school, but had a wisdom borne of experience and observation, many lives were improved by his sage counsel.

Walter could fix just about anything, and spent many hours making sure the homes and vehicles of others were in working order. Never a man to let the grass grow under his feet, Walter was always busy building things or tending his gardens and his yard.

Walter Morris could be described by many metaphors: tough as nails, solid as a rock, wise as an owl, busy as a bee, bald as a coot. But none capture Walter Morris the man, the husband, the brother, the father, the grandfather, the uncle, the friend. Robert Louis Stevenson said: “Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap...but by the seeds you plant.” By this measure, there was no greater man than Walter Lonzo Morris.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Russ Boruszewski Morris; sons, Walter Paul Morris; Phillip Darrin Morris and wife Melanie; James Boruszewski; daughters Peggy Lynn Williams; Kathleen Knight and husband Jason; Margaret Boruszewski Joy and husband Jeff; Collette Boruszewski Payne and husband Bob; Ann Boruszewski Strong and husband Tim; Gail Boruszewski Grantham and husband Jerry; Laura Boruszewski Pearson and husband Bill; Catherine Boruszewski Lett and husband John, 29 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Henry Morris, Lloyd Morris, George Morris, Leonard Morris, and Floyd Morris; sister Jean Boyett; first wife Mary Davis Morris, and granddaughter Christina Morris.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel (501)224-8300. Interment will be at Harmony Cemetery in Perryville.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2009, at the funeral home.
