Lacey Amber Bennefeld

of Conway, AR

December 30, 1989 - September 29, 2018

Lacey (Aunt Sister) Bennefeld, 28, of Conway, AR, went to be with the Lord, Saturday September 29, 2018. She was born on December 30, 1989 in Little Rock, AR to Timothy and Kimberly Bennefeld. Lacey was preceded in death by her grandfather, Don Bennefeld.

Lacey was fun loving, with an adventurous spirit and an infectious joy. She loved her family, her dog, her friends, and her work. Lacey loved to travel. She loved the beach, the mountains, and top-down sunny day sing-a-longs in her Jeep. She had a deep appreciation for country music, rum, medical dramas, chicken alfredo and any kind of delivery service. Lacey was amazingly unaware of her own talent, her own beauty, or the concept of matching in anything other than scrubs. She was the first to be there when someone needed help and the last to leave a good time.

Lacey found her true calling in medicine. Her unique brand of compassion and her innate protectiveness of anyone in need made Lacey a remarkable nurse. That legacy carries on in the lives of the patients she touched and the colleagues she trained and worked with.

Lacey is the cherished daughter of Kim and Tim Bennefeld. Lacey is the center that grounded her sister, Leslie and brother, Lance. She wasn't just an amazing aunt to her niece, Marley, but rather another parent as well as mother to her fur baby, Kingston. She is the granddaughter of Sue Bennefeld, Ron (Ginny) Keltner, and Sheryll (Tim) Richie.

Lacey loved her family and the time they spent together will forever be their happiest times. Despite the immeasurable emptiness without her, Lacey's family is eternally grateful for the time and memories of Lacey that they are so privileged to have.

Memorial Services will be on Friday October 5, 2018 at 3:00PM at Roller McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, AR. We would like to celebrate Lacey's life in Lacey fashion by wearing tee shirts, sport shorts and definitely mismatched socks with athletic shoes!

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Humane Society of Faulkner County.

Saddened by the loss of Lacey. Lacey was one of my first nursing school friends, and we hung out in a mismatched group of overachievers, underachievers, and non-traditional students. Lacey and I were older students for the program. I remember Lacey mostly as being unabashedly outgoing in clinicals. While most of us were scared to have conversations with our patients, especially older ones, Lacey was an instant friend to her patients no matter whose room she had set foot on. She built repoire really quickly in clinicals, but sometimes found herself having a really good time the night before class and forgot homework and as a group, one of us would help her out. When it came down to completing a head to toe assessment and starting IVs, we picked each other and practiced. Our group was fun; we were under strict instruction to never drink in our horrid white UCA nursing uniforms, but at the end of clinicals, there we were, at a pizza place having them pour us beers (Sorry, Dr. Gatto!). Then, there was the state nursing convention where we let loose a bit at lunch, and returned the conference, only to find a bunch of bounce houses in the basement where the convention was being held! She was the stress relief that we all needed during nursing school. I will forever cherish these memories of Lacey.

I would like to express my condolences to the family and friends of Lacey Bennefeld. There will come a time when death and mourning will be no more. (Revelations 21:3,4) This is what our loving God, Jehovah has promised. We have the hope of seeing our loved ones again. (John 5:28,29) May those verses bring you some comfort in your time of mourning.

Lacey I only knew for a short time, as for my mom moved us around a lot when I was younger. I was a new student when I started middle school in Conway, and I remember having a couple classes with Lacey. She was the first person to talk to me, and was really nice. I remember thinking how I wish others were more like her. She had an infectious smile and always brightened everyone’s day. Someone that you just knew was honest and real. You will be missed girl! Fly high beautiful angel.

Suzy and I hurt for you all and want you to know that there's lots of love out there for you. Don't hesitate to call on your friends for a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen. Keep Lacey and the wonderful memories close. She was such a sweet child as we remember her being one of the 'honorary' Cub Scouts.

She was one of the most beautiful souls I have ever known. I didn't worry about getting old, because I knew Lacey would take great care of me. She took amazing care of mom many times. I remember one of the last times I saw her, she was crouched down on mom's bed almost sitting on mom's head (remember the opening of ER) . Shannon and a nursing students were on each side of mom. They were doing something to give me my mom just little longer. She looked like the cat who ate the canary, then said "oh just it's just Robin. " Then went back to saving her, Anyone else would have been nervous with the scene, but I knew if it could be alright, Lacey would make it happen and I got to keep mom for 2 more days. The last time mom was admitted was after I had lost Lance and David. I saw her when we started down the hall. As I as I was close enough, she grabbed me and gave me a giant hug, telling me how sorry she was for me losing them and about to lose mom. I had no clue that just a few months later, I would be needing a hug for losing her. It is such a loss to all who knew her and to those who would have been lucky enough to be her patient. I know at some point, she and mom will find each other. I can already see it, Lacey sitting in mom's lap (idk why) . If a wise 3 yr old is right, they are surrounded by all their Heavenly dogs. They are telling stupid jokes and having far time than I am. The world will be a lot sadder without you. But, I am so glad I was in your sunshine for a while. I love you, Lacey. Give mom a hug from me.
