of Conway, AR
February 1, 1944 - August 11, 2018
James "Jim" Edward Hambuchen, 74, of Conway, AR, went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 11, 2018. He was born February 1, 1944 in New Orleans, LA to the late August "Gus" and Mary Ellen (Lachowsky) Hambuchen.
Jim was a faithful member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served honorably in the Arkansas Army National Guard. He was a master electrician and owner of Hambuchen Electric. Jim served on the board of directors of the National Association for the Self-Employed for over 30 years, both as its Treasurer and Chairman, representing the interests of small business owners. His passion and his insight were instrumental in establishing a small business grant program and a student scholarship program, making a significant difference for hundreds of families all across the country. His influence will continue forever through this organization to which he was dedicated.
Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, playing golf at Nutters Chapel, and water and snow skiing. He was the most generous man always helping anyone that asked. He devoted his life to his family. He was loved very much by his friends and family, who will dearly miss his contagious laughter and unique sense of humor.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving family, his wife of 48 years, GiGi (Worm) Hambuchen; son, Eric Hambuchen (Chrystel); daughters, Gina Hambuchen and Jill Turner (Mark); grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Whitley, Elizabeth Marie Whitley, Riley Jane Turner and Reagan Lee Turner; great-grandson, Jay Duke Williams; sister, Linda Hambuchen-Story; nieces, Cynthia Winter (Mike) and Tisha Keathley (Bill); great-nieces, Gracie and Laiken Keathley; and family "Brother" Thomas "Mac" Nabholz.

I lost a friend Saturday. Our friendship lasted for over 50 years. Through good times and bad, Jim was always there. We water skiied, rode our Harley’s, fished and played golf. He was a trusted friend that I could always count on and he could count on me. I’ll miss Jim the most when I think of our conversations about our families. Jim loved his wife GiGi, the kids and grandkids more that you’ll ever know. He was my friend.

Prayers for Jim and all the family,
I’m so sorry to hear of Jimmy’s passing. I will always be grateful for Jim & Gigi putting me to work when I was at UCA. Jimmy initially scared the crap out of me, but it wasn’t too long before I realized his bark was worse than his bite. I love all of the Hambuchens but will always have special memories of how good Jimmy was to me and what an asset he was to his community.
To Gigi and the rest of Jim’s family, please accept my deepest sympathy. And rest in peace my friend.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the entire Hambuchen family.
All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. It had been years since I had seen Jim which is sad to say since we were actually distant cousins. In closing, I will remember Jimmy and the good times that we shared when we were younger.
Sincerely,
