Judy Jones

of Conway, AR

July 17, 1947 - May 4, 2018

On Friday May 4, 2018, Judy Jones lost her thirteen year struggle with Alzheimer's/Dementia. Judy was the first daughter born on July 17, 1947 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to her parents B.O. and Fay Robertson. Judy grew-up in Winnsboro and graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1965. Throughout her high school years, Judy was very active in the high school band. She became an accomplished flautist, oboist and mastered the piccolo. At the same time, she excelled at piano and participated in many competitions.

After graduation, Judy attended Northeast Louisiana State College. In 1963 at age 16, she had her first date with a 21 year-old Don Jones. In 1967 they married. After a brief stop in Mississippi, Judy and Don moved to Conway, Arkansas where Don was employed as an Instructor in History at State College of Arkansas. Later, Judy took piano classes at the University of Central Arkansas and taught piano in her home.
Judy's association with UCA began when she went to work in the Financial Aid Office. Later, she moved to Psychology and Counseling department as secretary, and concluded her career working in the UCA Archives in Torreyson Library. In August 2010, Judy retired after some 30 years of service to UCA.

In 2016, when Judy's medical condition worsened, she moved to Seeds of Love in Greenbrier, Arkansas. In July 2017, Judy celebrated her 70th birthday with family and friends, and later in August, Judy and Don observed their 50th wedding anniversary. Throughout her life Judy enjoyed music, traveling, and visiting her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. Some of Judy's happiest moments involved her travels to France and Paris. In addition, she loved eating boiled crawfish in New Iberia, Louisiana.

Surviving is her husband, Don Jones of Conway, Arkansas and her three sons Tom Jones and wife Becky of Miami, Oklahoma, Jason Jones of Chandler, Arizona, and Micah Jones of Conway, Arkansas. Also, her granddaughters Paige Henson and husband Nick, Charity Jones, and grandson Dax Jones all of Miami, Oklahoma. Great grandchildren Cooper and Dawson Henson of Miami, Oklahoma. Survivors also include a sister Jenny Roberts and husband Russell of Extension, Louisiana, brothers Eddie Robertson of Independence, Louisiana and Richard Robertson and wife Bonnie of Little Rock, Arkansas. She is also survived by eight nieces and nephews.

The family extends its gratitude to Dr. J. Brad Tilley and his staff at Tilley Family Medicine for their kindness and understanding. The staffs of Kindred Hospice and Nurse Erin were very attentive to Miss Judy's needs during the course of her last year.

Many, many thanks to the caregivers at Seeds of Love for their love and compassion: Crystal, Jan, Keisha, Jo, Star, Jeanice, Alana, Morgan, Stephanie and Laci.

A debt of gratitude to Jimmy and Jann Bryant for their assistance in planning and participating in the celebration of the life of Judy Jones.

Don, Tom, Jay & Micah-

I am so sorry for loss. Judy was an amazing woman, mother, wife and friend. She has won her battle and now rests in eternal peace. She and Daddy are together now and they are probably discussing who the beer really belonged to when Mema and Papa came over. I know she is playing the piano for the Angel Choirs in Heaven.

My you know comfort and peace!

Dear Don, you know I stay in touch with Seeds of Love and when I visited yesterday I looked for Judy. I'm sorry if my condolences are late in coming but know that my thoughts have been with you and your family. May you and your family always think of the best times you shared before the pain, something that I hope will soon be forgotten and replaced with Joy for her eternal peace.

To Mr. Donald, Tom, Jay, Micah. I am so sorry for the loss of Mrs. Judy. Heaven gained another angel. I have many memories of her when we boys were kids and Yall would visit Mrs. Lucy and Mr. Earnest. I lost Mom last year, so I know it is heart breaking. You guys will be in my prayers now and in the days to come. I miss Yall and hope to see you one day.

Don and family:
I have so many wonderful memories of Judy. She was a big part of my life for 20 years and I treasure every moment with her from the days watching her walk around the building on her lunch break to the days when walking became difficult. She was a great friend, and I miss her dearly.

Love to you all.

I have so many happy memories of Judy from my days in the Psychology & Counseling Dept. and she was our secretary. As well, she was my accompanist on many occasions when we entertained at various functions in Conway. Most of all, she was a dear friend. Her happy face and laughter made our days and she was much loved. Don, I am so sorry you have lost your sweetheart.

Judy was the pianist at the First Presbyterian Church in Conway for many years with me as Choir Director. We provided many wonderful programs and church services for the church and the community. We always had fun at choir practice and everyone enjoyed being together on Wednesday nights. We had some wonderful Children Choir Programs and her sons were in our programs. Don was always very supportive of our busy schedules. Judy will be missed by all her friends. Our prayers, thoughts and memories will be with the family during this time of loss. Thanks for the Memories! Our Love, J.B. & Margie Robertson (We have been in TX for 10 years now.)

My most sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Judy Jones. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Judy for several years. She was a big part of the UCA Archives family, and loved her work. She always had a very positive attitude and was a ray of sunshine and made coming to work very enjoyable for her co-workers. Judy was a very kind person, and we are going to miss her greatly.
