of Conway, AR

November 5, 1931 - April 22, 2018

Milton Franklin Davis, 86, of Conway, passed away on April 22, 2018 at Conway. Born Nov. 5 1931, in Little Rock, Milton was the only child of Presley Franklin and Cosia Esco Granger Davis, who preceded him in death.

Family includes: his wife of 64 years, Claudia Jackson Davis; 4 children: Constance Davis Copley (Greg), Fort Smith; Andi Davis-Cole, Dexter, MO; Jean-Anne Davis, Hot Springs; Granger Davis (Jan), Conway; Son-in-law, Larry Cole, Memphis; 6 grandchildren: Eric Copley (Amanda), Sherwood; Amanda Copley Mulhearn (Travis), Conway; Emily Copley (Sam Nagher), Fort Smith; Abbey Cole, Conway; Carson and Emma Davis, Conway; 8 great-grandchildren: Davis, Charlotte (deceased), Stella (deceased) and Riley Mulhearn, Jackson and Eli Copley, Christopher Cole and Cole Givens.

Milton was a 1949 graduate of Little Rock High School, 1953 graduate of Little Rock Jr. College, and 1955 Graduate of UCA. He was a Korean War Veteran for the United States Air Force.
He was an Edward Jones Financial Advisor 1979-2010 at Toad Suck Square in downtown Conway.

Milton took great pleasure in being involved in his community, spending time with his family, creating his Toadsuck cartoons and mostly making people laugh. He served on numerous boards and served as Conway Chamber of Commerce Chairman, received several honors such as the Lions Club Fellow award and the Rotary Paul Farris award for dedication to humanitarian services, was an active member of his church and Sunday school, and a constant presence in downtown Conway.

Milton had a long history advocating for fairness and justice throughout his life. Marching in the first official Martin Luther King memorial march, April 1968, was listed as one of his proudest and most courageous moments of his life. He and wife, Claudia, were raising 4 children in Memphis during this time and always wanted to ''be on the right side of history'' when they looked back at this time. He continued this advocacy with his political cartoons, membership in many clubs and organizations and even the bright yellow car he drove.

While he will be dearly missed by his family, friends and community, they all feel very lucky to have known this "YELODOG" humorist for 86 wonderful years.

A celebration of life will be held 2pm, Friday April 27, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Conway, reception to follow.

Honorary Pallbearers: The many Toadsuck Country Cartoon Characters he created.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the many foundations Milton and Claudia have established, First United Methodist Church at 1610 Prince Street, Conway 72034, University of Central Arkansas, United Way of Central Arkansas, Conway Community Arts, Arkansas Children's Hospital or the charity of your choice.

My association with Milton and his wife Claudia goes back to the 1970's when we were involved with the Conway Community Arts group. I was privileged to work with them in a few plays, some of which I directed. I enjoyed those times with them very much. I've only seen them occasionally since then, but was always happy to see and talk with them. I am now sad to learn of Milton's passing and extend my since condolences to Claudia and the rest of her family.

Claudia, Granger, & Family-
No one knows better than you how wonderful Milton was and how many people he affected! I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to know him the past 30 years and will so miss him each morning at Bob's. We laughed and cried together so many times. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Milton was a wonderful person who will be missed. His acts of kindness such as sending me newspaper clippings of my children and a note were genuinely appreciated. He genuinely cared about Conway and her people. His cartoons were always a treat. Conway has lost an icon.

My prayers are with you all.

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. He was so very good to my dad, and Daddy trusted him (and you) completely. He was such an honest, helpful, kind and funny man. I have been and will continue to pray for you all.
