John Glover

of Mayflower, AR

August 17, 2015

On Monday, August 17th, John Franklin ''Bud'' Glover, formerly of McCrory, Arkansas and Brookfield, Illinois met God. Known to friends and family as ''The Arkansas Flash'', John was an avid fisherman, a Razorback football fan, and, most importantly, a great man.

Born in 1932 to Glen and Josephine Glover, John attended McCrory High School. He played football for the Jaguars, and held the record for the longest punt in school history (72 yards, on October 6th, 1950) for 21 years. After graduation, he joined the United States Army, and achieved the rank of Corporal. He met the girl that would become his wife in 1954. They married in 1956 and settled down in her hometown of Brookfield, Illinois, where they raised their family and lived for 40 years. They retired to Mayflower, where they lived for 21 years.

John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joanne Broggi Glover; his son, Michael (Michelle) Glover of Romeoville, Illinois; daughter Josie Glover (Brian) Robinson of Mayflower, Arkansas; Grandchildren Kristin, Cole, Stephanie, Ian & Stacy Robinson; Nina & Jeremy Glover; step-grandson Donald Creech and step-great grandson Jace Creech.

As per his wishes there is to be no wake or funeral services, but a private family memorial will take place in October. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Childrens Research Foundation, INC. PO Box 205, Clarendon Hills, Illinois, 60514. For online guestbook www.rollerfuneralhomes.com

Ours thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. He will always be remembered as "the Cookie Man". Many a time did we find a case of cookies on our doorstep! He made Wil and myself love Milanos! May he rest in peace.

John and I were close personal friends, from the time he escaped Tip, AR and made the trek to McCrory High School. We graduated the same class and went our own ways for 40 years until class reunions joined us together.

I broke out a small cassett of John's music and played it as great tribute to my friend John Glover. He was a very good songwriter and musician. Composed interesting and personal songs, especially from our time in high school.

What a hoot! Always more fun than a human should have with others. Bye John, see you later. Jim Johnson

Josie, Mrs. Glover, and family,
It is with joy that I remember Mr. Glover. He was always so kind and really had us laughing when I came over to visit. How generous he was to drive us to school when we were in high school, so we didn't have to walk or ride the bus. So many precious memories that you will treasure I am sure. Glad that I knew him.
Love, Carolyn

We will always remember having a good time with John back in our Brookfield days. Loved his many stories and his cute southern accent. Wish we could have seen him more in the past years. God bless you, John..we're sure The Arkansas Flash is back in action in that big football game in Heaven!
