Samuel Wayne Wilcox

Samuel Wayne Wilcox, 53, of Greenbier, left this earth suddenly and peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2012. Sam was born November 28, 1958 in Conway, AR. Sam was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Samuel Wayne Wilcox and Clarice Milam Wilcox, his maternal grandfather, Faber Watson (whom he idolized) and lastly but most importantly, his mother, Ruth Watson Wilcox. Sam lost a part of his own heart when his mother died in November of 2009.

Sam graduated from Conway High School in 1977. He was owner and operator of two convenience stores (Wilcox Country Store) at both Conway and Beebe. The last several years he lived on his farm at Horseshoe Mountain, which had been his maternal grandfather's old farm. Sam loved that place and the simple beauty that it provided. He was an extreme nature lover. Even as a child he was fascinated with beautiful things: trees, sky, water, birds and animals. Recently he built his own pond and stocked it with the finest fish he could find. He loved music; not just one genre, but music of all kinds. Sam lived life to the fullest and with great passion. He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.

Sam is survived by three beautiful children: sons, Beau Wilcox (Shannon) of Conway, AR, and Gabe Wilcox (Haley) of Boston MA, and one daughter Annie Wilcox Mikel (Garrett) of Little Rock, AR. Also surviving are two grandsons: Graham and Hayes Wilcox, his father, Kenneth Wilcox, his best friend and only brother, Kenny Wilcox (Suzy), two sisters, Kay Ferguson (Mike), and Suellen Davidson (Pat). He also leaves behind, grandmother, Mildred Beene Langford, six nephews, and two neices.

A celebration and memorial service of Sam's life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at the home of his brother, Kenny Wilcox located at 77 Elliot Road in Springhill, with Andy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway (501-327-7727). Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Davidson, Nick Davidson, Blue Wilcox, Danny Akers, Blake Hunt, Steve Spangler, and Danny Dillard. All friends and family are invited.
