Virginia V. Appleyard, 86, of Conway, formerly of New York City, passed away, Thursday, July 5, 2012. She was born Friday, February 19, 1926 in New York City, New York to the late Joseph Henry and Helen Marie Blake Mayers.

A native New Yorker, Mrs. Appleyard moved to Conway in 1980. She was a homemaker, a proficient artist and loved writing and her many pets.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Appleyard; son, Kevin Joseph Appleyard; brothers, John Joseph Barry and William DeRuyter; and sister, Kathleen Slocum.

Mrs. Appleyard leaves to cherish her memory her son, Dr. Sean Appleyard of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Maureen Bradshaw (Edward) of Conway and Karen Appleyard-Black (David Ward) of Conway; and three grandchildren, Spencer Bradshaw of Conway, Matthew Bradshaw of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Barbara Black-Diaz (MSGT Joseph Diaz) of Las Vegas, Nevada.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
