Norris Lee Thessing
September 11, 1955 - May 30, 2012

Norris Lee Thessing Sr., 56, of Wooster, passed away peacefully at his home, May 30, 2012. He was born September 11,1955 in Conway to the late J.C. Thessing and Nita Jean Treadway Thessing. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Glenda "Sissy" Thessing.

Norris attended St. Joseph Catholic Schools graduating 1973. He had many fond memories of his life at SJHS developing lasting friendships with his classmates. Beginning at a young age, Norris worked at Thessing Grocery until the family business closed in 1972. He attended and received a degree in Cabinetry from Petite Jean Vocational School, in Morrilton, while working at Nabholz Supply Company. Norris continued, working for Nabholz in the Truss shop, the door shop ,then on to contractor sales for Nabholz Home Center. Norris remained as the business was sold to BWA leaving there in 1996 and starting Norris Thessing Custom Construction. He was an excellent craftsman and cabinet maker but also was known for custom furniture, trim work, and mantels. Norris continued his love of cabinet building even after going to work at Camp Robinson as a post engineer.
Norris enjoyed being outdoors, playing his guitar, and helping others. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He adored his grandchildren.

Norris leaves behind his loving wife Sharon Williams Thessing of 33 years, daughter Heather Robert,husband Barry of Baton Rouge, son Norris Lee Thessing Jr.,wife Tammie of North Little Rock, daughter Ashley Newland, husband Will of Greenbrier, two granddaughters, Dixie and Daysie Newland, two grandsons, Embry Thessing, Major Robert, and four step grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Gail Strack, (Marty),brother Ronnie Thessing (Phyllis)and three step-brothers . He was blessed with a wonderful extended family and friends who enriched his life. Norris will be dearly missed.

The Rosary will be Sunday, June 3, at 6:00, with visitation to follow, Roller McNutt in Conway (501-327-7727). Mass will be held Monday, June 4, at 10:00 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Charles Thessing officiating. Memorials can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Schools Endowment.
