James Floyd Summers, age 74 of Knoxville, died Sunday, January 31, 2016 after a battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Betty and Floyd Summer of Lamar. He was a longtime member of the Arkansas National Guard, a graduate of the Arkansas Military Academy and retired Army Sergeant.
He was also a former cattleman and mayor of Lamar.
Survivors include one son, William Floyd Summer of Hagarville; one brother Don Summers and two nieces of Lamar.
The body was cremated, a private family service will be held at a later date.

Don and Will, Buck and I are so sorry to hear about Jimmy's death. Mary, Jo Ellen and I did not know until today. Jimmy was so good to check on mom and keep her up to date on things. He will be missed. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
