Dorothy ''Darlene'' A. Brown, 56, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her father and brother in Heaven on Saturday, January 3, 2015. She was born May 31, 1958 in Mobile. She retired as a Registered Nurse from Saline Memorial Hospital after twenty-eight years of service.
Her father, John C. Duke, Jr. and one brother, Bobby Duke preceded her in death.
Darlene was a devoted wife to her husband, Ralph Brown; a dedicated mother to sons Eric Brown, Jeremy Massey, and Bobby (Cassie) Massey; mother, Annette ''Nettie'' Duke; brothers, Johnny Duke, Mike (Stephanie) Duke, Mark (Kathy) Duke, and Vincent (Lorri) Duke; sister, Marie Duke; sisters-in-laws, Becky Bailey and Debbie (Randy) Staggs; father and mother-in-law, Ralph Douglas and Donna Brown, many nieces and nephews, and was a beloved ''DarDar'' to her three grandchildren, Taylor Brown, Lily Massey, and Olivia Massey.
Darlene was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. She loved to spend time with her family, traveling, playing cards and making an occasional trip to the casinos. She will be missed by her family, friends, coworkers, and the many families who she was privileged to serve as a labor and delivery nurse.
Rosary and subsequent visitation will be Monday, January 5, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (501-315-4047).
The Mass of Resurrection will be held Tuesday, January 6th, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in her honor to the MS Foundation at www.msfocus.org/donate-in-honor.aspx.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family. I worked with her for many years and she was such a joy and took the best care of her patients. I got to experience it first hand when she was my labor nurse 8yrs ago. She will be deeply missed.

Sweet Darlene....I worked with her for 10 years in L&D. She was such a hard worker and a great nurse. She was a wonderful friend. She always made me laugh! Just thinking about her laughing and cutting up about something makes me chuckle! There will never be another like her. She will truly be missed! Many prayers for comfort to her family and friends.

Darlene was one of the sweetest people I've known. She labored me with my firstborn. She was a true inspiration. She later gave me my start in Labor and Delivery in 1988 and I am still enjoying my career today. She was a dear friend and she will be immensely missed. In our hearts always. Thinking of Ralph, their boys and the entire family at this time.

Dar Dar , there is no way to put in words how much you will be missed. I feel very blessed to have been your friend. I know you are at peace and taking care of your dad and brother. I loved you and have all those awesome memories of fun we had with the "gang". We will be reunited again someday.!!
I had the privilage to work with Dar in GI. She was one of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met. She will be missed greatly. My prayers are with her family.
I am so proud to have called her my friend.. High school was fun. Nick and Bobby played many of golf rounds. We walked many of golf courses to watch them play and we never played the game ourselves. I will miss your beautiful smile and your kind heart. prayaers to Ralph and all the family.
