William Clayton Perry, 92, of Benton passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. He was born on May 21, 1921 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to the late Robert Harvey and Ollie B (Kemp) Perry.
He was a Church of God minister for all of his adult life. He was very active with youth, missions, and supporting local churches. He served as state coordinator for the Louisiana Church of God State Assembly for nearly two decades. He loved his garden, birds, airplanes, hunting, and fishing. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Force. He was a servant of the people and treasured his extensive church family.
He is survived by his sons, Jodie Perry (Sandra) and Mart Perry; daughter, Patricia Perry; grandchildren, Brad Perry, Benjy Perry, Brian Perry, Joe Farrar, Ronda Farrar, and Rachel McKenzie; five great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Estep and O. Z. Yates; brother, Elmer Perry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae (Buffington) Perry; and his siblings, Geneva (Perry) Stanford, Ferrel Perry, Lou (Perry) West, and Floy Perry.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
I have known Clayton (and Annie Mae) for years. A good man he was, and the family can all be so proud to have had such a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, and relation.
