Wylie H. Vaughn, 90, of Benton, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to be with the LORD October 29, 2009 in Bryant. He was born June 16, 1919 in Jessieville, AR to the late Ben T. and Mary Vaughn.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Wells Vaughn; a daughter, Darlene Vaughn Bridges and husband Sonny Bridges, four grandsons and their wives, Vaughn and Lidiane Bridges, Mark and Amy Bridges, Trey and Kristen Vaughn and Tony and Holly Vaughn, and three great grandsons, Carson Bridges, Matthew Bridges and Benjamin Bridges.
Mr. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Thelma Lee Vaughn, a son, Wylie Vaughn Jr., two sisters, Hazel Green, Sally Brazil, and two brothers, Hoyt Vaughn and Herman Vaughn.
He was retired from Reynolds Metals Company, a member of Holland Chapel Baptist Church in Benton, a former deacon of East Side Baptist Church in Benton, a WWII Veteran, a member of the Benton VFW, a Benton City Councilman for 15 years, a member of the Palestine Hunting Club, and an avid fisherman and hunter.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Holland Chapel Baptist Church in Benton under the direction of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047). Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery in Benton.
Pallbearers will be Trey Vaughn, Tony Vaughn, Jeff Curtis, Tommy McClain, Dean Haley, and Stanley Haley. Honorary Pallbearers will be George Wallace, Andy Curtis, Lance Kitchens, Bill Stuckey, and Manuel Montalvo.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the funeral home.
Flowers may be sent to the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the following: Memorial and Honor Program, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
