Shirley Cox

of Flippin, AR

April 27, 1941 - September 24, 2016

Shirley Jean Jefferson Cox of Flippin, Arkansas, was born April 27, 1941, to Roscoe Ebb Jefferson and Cnora Alma Bell Jefferson. She passed from this life Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. Shirley was married to Jack Walton Cox on January 23, 1960, and to this union was born three children: Angela June White (Randy), Galen Wayne Cox (Cindi), and Shannon Gail King (Buddy).

Shirley was a graduate of Yellville-Summit High School, a licensed cosmetologist, and worked for the Marion County Shirt Factory and LaBarge Industries until 1978 when she and Walton purchased a western store in Mountain Home, that they called Cox Western World. She worked with Walt at Cox Western World until they sold the store and both retired in 1997 to their farm in Flippin, Arkansas. Shirley sure knew how to treat people and cater to her customers. She made everyone she met feel special. She knew the perfect shirt that people needed, made sure the hem was just right on any pair of pants, and never failed to open her heart to those in need. After retirement, she worked at the Marion County Revenue office, Giftiques, quilted, painted, but most importantly, she enjoyed every moment with her family. Shirley never lost her passion for people.

In addition to her husband and 3 children, she is survived by her grandchildren: Amber (Josh), Becky, Levi, Skyler (Dominique), and Scarlett; great-grandchildren: Ava, Ruby, Maleigh, Brekken, and Tylee; a brother Truman Lee Jefferson (Kathy); two sisters, Jessie Fern Adams and Carol June Jefferson; and sisters-in-law, Jackie Tabor Jefferson, Mary Cox, Sybil Castor (Davey). She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Marlin Bryan Jefferson and brothers-in-law: Burl Cox, Russell Cox, Russell Dillard, and Wade Cox.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 26, 2016 from 5:00 - -8:00 pm at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Yellville, Arkansas
