of North Little Rock, AR

June 18, 1922 - June 23, 2016

Charles Fredrick Martin, Jr., age 94 of North Little Rock, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord, June 23, 2016. He was born to Charles Fredrick Martin, Sr. and Minnie Mae Martin on June 18, 1922 in North Little Rock.
Charles worked as a salesman for Georgia-Pacific. Served as a Deacon and taught Sunday school for 65 years and served on 2 pulpit committee-chairing one. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends. In retirement his hobbies included ceramics and traveling, making four trips to Canada and visiting his children and grandchildren. One of his favorite pasttimes was maintaining his manicured yard and flower beds. He loved being with his grandchildren, playing games, having cook-outs at Albert Pike, watching movies and just talking and enjoying each other's company.
Charles is survived by the love of his life and wife of 73 years, Jean Marie Davis Martin, his two sons: Dr. Fredrick Allan Martin (Debbie) of North Little Rock and Dr. Thomas Mark Martin (Karen) of San Antonio, TX, along with seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one son: Charles David Martin.
The family would like to thank Dr. Byron Curtner for his excellent care over the years and the doctors and staff at Baptist Health Medical Center '''' NLR, for their care and support over the last few weeks.

Charles is one of the finest men that I've ever known. He was Rock Solid in his faith and you can see evidence of that in his children. He was a great father and Mentor.

Only sweet memories in my heart of him and his dear family.

I was not aware of his death till after the funeral. I wish I could have been there to pay my respects.

Hard to believe it's been over 24 years since I've seen Mr. Martin And still think he was one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Mr. and Mrs. Martin were so friendly to us in Columbus Mississippi when we were stationed with Mark and Karen .We pray for the families for comfort in these times and reflect on the great times we had with the Martins Even after all this time ,we still think of them as some of our dearest friends .May the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you love you guys , Lee and Anne

Your family is blessed to have had a godly father and grandfather, and he for getting to live so long to see the fruits of his faithfulness! Cherish the memories, and continue putting Christ first. May you find comfort and encouragement in the knowledge of knowing you will be together again forever.
Christ's love to you all,
Joan

The thing I remember about Charles Martin was his faithfulness to God's house, and that his walk matched his talk. He was always a classy gentleman that welcomed people with a handshake, hug, and a smile. He will be missed, but heaven is rejoicing over his homecoming! Our prayers and love are with the family.
