I worked with Mr. Shoemaker at Mail Marketing Services, a division of International Graphics. We shared a love of books, history and Christ. He and Dortha were very dedicated to each other and to the Lord. He will be missed on this earth.

I still remember the first time I met the Shoemaker family, it was at Martindale in the 50's. Fred was preaching the gospel and also leading the singing. Our family's have been associated with each other ever since then and I can truly say that Fred set the fine example of how a person should conduct themselves in all things. My only regret is that I did'nt get to visit with him and Sonny at last September when I saw them last. God be with the family and all of us who had the privilege of knowing him.

Brother Fred has gone home after all. He once gave me a little booklet of poems which he had written, and one of the most meaningful and most beautiful was a poem about going home again. I remember one line went something like, "They say you can't go home again, but I've been there a thousand times, in my mind."
Please accept out condolences. He was a good man, and will be missed by all who knew him.

When Oscar was converted (after 20+ years of our marriage), the first comment he made to me was "I know who I want to baptize me. Fred." He and Dortha had visited us as very young newlyweds when we moved to Mabelvale. We are among the many whose lives he affected in a wonderful way. He is in a happy home today for sure!

I really admired Bro. Shoemaker and thought of him like a grandfather. He was wise with a quick wit. I enjoyed the time I got to hear him speak God's work from the pulpit. I know his loved ones who have gone on before, especially Dortha, are welcoming him with loving arms. I will also look forward to the day when we can be reunited in Heaven.
