Hodge Smith, age 87, of Jonesboro passed away Tuesday at the Ridgecrest Health and Rehab facility in Jonesboro. He was born March 17, 1925 in Johnson City, TN to Charles and Odie Smith. Mr. Smith lived in the Jonesboro area most of his life.
Hodge was a US Army veteran and a steadfast, loyal supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul W. Smith; and a nephew, Roland L. Smith.
Survivors include a nephew, Jim Smith of Eagle, ID.
A graveside service will be held at a later date. No visitation is planned.
Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.

I took care of Mr. Smith at Jonesboro Health Care. He was a sweet and compassionate man when it come to his family. He loved his pictures hung on his wall or door so that he could see them at all times. I often hung them up when he switched rooms.

I had worked with Mr. Hodge at Ridgecrest and he was a very nice man. He will be missed.
