Mrs. Ethel Marie Askins, age 76 of Henderson, Arkansas, passed away June 29, 2012 in Springfield, Missouri. She was born October 30, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Kristjan and Ethel (Hunt) Myrdal. On June 24, 1966 she married George A. Askins in Sycamore, Illinois, and they recently celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary. She worked for Ideal Industries in Sycamore for 23 years. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Mountain Home, Arkansas, a volunteer at the Diabetes Center at Baxter Regional Medical Center, and a first responder for the Henderson Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed reading, walking, boating, fishing, dancing, and music.

She is survived by her husband George of the home, sons Michael (Kathy) LaVigne of Sandston, Virginia, and Dan (Margaret) LaVigne of Roseburg, Oregon, 2 daughters Lynn (Jack) Fiamingo of Jacksonville, Florida and Dawn (Brad) Montgomery of New Market, Maryland, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and a grandson, Bradley G. Montgomery.

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Ethel Marie Askins will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Diabetes Center at Baxter Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
