Cecil Wayne Hall (79) of Damascus passed away on Tuesday April 24, 2012. He was born October 23, 1932 to C.E. and Minnie (Cochran) Hall of Damascus. Two sisters, Flocie and Edra, and two brothers, Jack and Willard, preceded him in death. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Damascus where he had served for many years as Church Treasurer and on the Building Committee.
For most of his life, he had worked two jobs. He loved his job of thirty years with the Arkansas State Forestry Commission. However, his true passion was farming, where he spent his entire life. He was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed hunting quail as well as elk in Colorado, moose in Alaska and pheasants in South Dakota.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Rose McKnight Hall, and five children: Bruce Hall (Darlene) of Greenbrier, Cheryl (Sherry) Stewart (Robert) of Damascus, Vicky Earnhart of Damascus, Kelly NeSmith (Jack) of Conway and Henry Hall (Terry) of Damascus; 16 grandchildren: Travis, Anthony, Rebekah, Amanda, Carrie, Kimberly, Courtney, Sidney, Becky, Charles, Grant, Rachel, Branson, Tresse, Katie and Alexis; 14 great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren. He is survived by one brother, Bill Hall of Damascus, 10 nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Damascus at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be at Spires Cemetery in Damascus. Pallbearers are Travis and Anthony Hall, Jeremy and Chole Linn, Charles Tucker, Grant NeSmith, Josh Glover and Mark Hall. Honorary pallbearers are, Sonny Thomas, Dan Dipert Sr., Jackie Reynolds, T.H. Gibbs, James Goodwin and Edward Land.
