Roger Dale Washam, 59, of Mayflower was welcomed to earth, on Thursday, March 9, 1950 by his parents, Payton A. and Lois (Powell) Washam.
They along with his sisters, Kathryn Washam Yant, Marilyn Washam, and Linda Washam; and his brother, Linn Washam; welcomed him to heaven on Monday, September 14, 2009.
Mr. Washam was a member of Gold Creek Baptist Church.
He leaves behind to meet again, his wife, Mary Jo (Gamelin) Washam; three sons, Payton Wesley Washam, Roy Vincent Linn Washam, Richard Dale and Rebecca Washam; two daughters, Tammy Cook and Judith Ashley (Washam) and Willie Harris; special daughter-in-law, Melissa Washam; nine grandchildren, Jeffery Collins, Joseph Washam, Luke Washam, Kelsey Cook, Sabrina Cook, Bailey Cook, Jordan Harris, Breanna Harris, and Nathan Norwood; brother, Bill and Doris Washam; five sisters, Wanda and George Thompson, Shirley Washam, Becky and Rick Naylor, Beverly and James Wheeler, Betsy and Mike Caudle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway with H. B. Shirley officiating. Burial will follow at Mayflower Cemetery with Payton Washam, Roy Washam, Richard Washam, Willie Harris, Joseph Washam, Luke Washam, and Jeffery Collins, serving as pallbearers. Jordan Harris and Nathan Norwood will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2009.
I have thought about you alot lately... to be honest I wondered what it would of been like to have actually of known you and been around through life. I can feel you walking with me sometimes... I feel like you are also helping me through life because I was in so much pain before and lost and now im doing better, I know its partly you by my side. I have a lone picture of you and me left standing next to a old truck when I was a little kid. I was so happy to see you and I can still us stnading there and them me giving you a hug :). You always made me feel special and wanted, even at some bad points in my life. You and the entire Washam family did. God I wish we could of got to know each other... Now I feel like im never going to see anyone from My Family again.... you linked us together.
My other grandpa that lives here in Springfield might have the same thing you had............... I don't understand, im lost........ im not there at your grave site, but please help me though this wherever you are. I love you Grandpa....
For the 10 years that you ware in my life u ware the best papa in the world.

i will always love and miss my papa he was a strong man who loved all his grandkids evan though he never said it he did and we want him to be happy and were he is know he is he was hurting really bad but know he fills a lot better my papa was always fun he took as on alot of trips evan if he felt bad. i wish i could have spent more time with him befor he past away and know that hes gone i will help take care of the farm so that he can be happy so when he looks down at his farm it will look just how he wants it me and joey,luke,judy,wes,veny,and the hole family wil love and miss him so much its hard to lose someone you love dearly and you nerver know how much untile you lose them

Daddy, my life just totaly changed at the blink of an eye i am so confused my life will is so strange with out you . But i know that you are up there happy with your parents and sister and brother. Uncle Rod was a very special person. I grew up with him and there was never a dull monment with him around. I have alot of special memories of him and will misss him very much. My prayers are with the rest of the family. I know it is a very hard road ahead. It will hurt for along time, I still miss my mom very much. Just think of all the good times and trust that he is in a better place now. I love all of you and will pray for you .

Roger Dale is going to be missed very much. He always had something funny to say. He never met anyone that he wasn't friendly to. I will keep the whole family in my prayers everyday.
