Funeral services will be held for Ellis Clairday on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Twin City Church of Christ on Highway 49 West in West Helena. Brother Bobby Baker and Brother Curtis Pettie will officiating.
"Mr. Ellis", as he was also known, was born February 24, 1931, and died at his home in Poplar Grove on Monday, December 18, 2006 at 2:10 a.m. He was a member of the Twin City Church of Christ. He was formerly the owner of Ellis Auto Parts, until he retired in 1994.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oma Lee and Oscar Clairday of Conway County, Arkansas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lil Clairday; 3 sons, Mark Clairday and wife, Susie of Searcy, Joey Clairday and wife, Cathy of Poplar Grove, and Scott Clairday of Searcy; one daughter, Wana McGrew of Poplar Grove. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a brother, Carl Clairday of Jerusalem, Arkansas, and two sisters, Louella Kelley of Sherwood, and Avelene Glenn of Redding, California.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons; Mark Clairday II, Joey Clairday, II, Jerry McGrew, Kevin Clairday, Matthew Clairday, and his nephew, Christopher Ramsey.
Honorary pallbearers will be the elders of the Twin City Church of Christy; Curtis Pettie, Lindell Smith, Bill Givens, Charles Gunn, and Jerry Frederick, also serving will be Dr. Kurt Tauer, Dr. Gill Pillow, and Dr. William Richards.
Visitation will be at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Cancer Research Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

Lawana and family, I sorry about your loss. When reading over the other messages I came to one about the "circle" and I fully understand what she meant. I remember visiting with Nora and visitng with her and her other friends. There was a such a closeness of the friends there in that neighborhood that has remained even after all these years. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.

We in the Pittman family are sorry to hear about your loss. Mr. Ellis (as most people called him), was a wonderfull man. I remember the many times he helped me find the right parts and always did it with a smile. God bless him and all the Clairday family.

The Clairday Family I wish I knew the words to give you comfort now. I can't help but remember my Dad at this time, and all the fun they use to have at the store. I hope you find comfort in knowing that so many are thinking of you all at this time.

I will never forget the times when Lil and Ellis would come and visit with my grandparents and the homecomings at Jerusalem. I always thought that when I grew up I hoped to be as Happy as they always were. Ellis was a fine and Kind person. My prayers are with You all and Know that we love you and are here for you.

Just wanted to extend my sympathy to Lawana and her family. I recall meeting Mr. Clairday at a party Lawana had at their house in junior high.
