Al was my first mentor in the wonderful world of TV. I was green young eagar kid working at KAIT-TV, when I entered a sales internship. Al was a leader of the business and also a teacher of life. Al took the time, more time than necessary, and professional guideance and real life lessons that stay with me today. I'm currently the Director of Sales and Marketing for KATV-TV, in Little Rock. There is no way I could enjoy my success wtihout the assitance of Al. I want Al's family to understand that most people live their life hoping to help others, and never succeed. I'm at least one, probably of many, that can say with sincere appreicatoin Al Blanks is the reason I enjoy my job, my success, and most of life.

I am a 1964 graduate of GHS. MY computer has been down, and I just got to read my mail. Ludean Young sent me a note telling me about A.T. I am sorry for your loss. A.T was a fine man. Too tell you a funny story. When I was a little girl in about the first or second grade. I wanted A. T to be my boyfriend. He was a senior about that time. ( a little girls admiration I guess.) We all grew wp with Al Blanks, a home town boy growing up and giving us our news weather and sports. Sincerly, Thelma M Clemons

Penny, Mary Lynn sent me this link to the obituary. I'm trying to imagine the mix of feelings you are having now. I know your major concern will be your Mom now. I'll be praying for you to have the wisdom in creatively and wisely dealing with her concerns. I'll be praying for her to lean on her Lord and learn to trust Him. I'm hoping there will be a time soon for us to have a long chat as I won't blame you if you cannot come to the wedding. I so long for a cozy chat without time constraints. You have so much wisdom already and ready trust in the Lord, I know you will please Him in your efforts, I love you, Tina

Mr. Blanks could make your day just by seeing him or hearing his voice on a commercial. He was always so upbeat, but what really came through was his kindness. He was a genuinely nice man, not just putting on a show for the camera. When I would see Rusty at Lowe's or out feeding the ducks with the children, I was reminded of his Dad because of Rusty's friendliness andcaring ways. Brenda was always nice at Swiss Colony and the girls were friends of someone who was very special to me, Ranae Bean Clayton. I knew J.W. and his family through church. Al was especially kind to me once when I was having a terrible migraine and he offered to help. He will certainly be missed and I know his family will need our prayers. Tricia

I can remember when Mr. Banks was doing the weather way back when. I was just a kid but, I always liked him and how he presented himself on and off the air. I had a chance to meet him at Blackwell-Baldwin Ford several years ago. He was truly one of the nicest men I have ever met. Oh, one more thing my daughter when she was in kindergarten also got to meet him and a few others and I e-mail her last nite in ST. Louis and she was very sad to hear of his passing. God Bless your family. I am also burying my nephew in the morning. I will say a prayer for your family.

My sincere Christian love and sympathy to all of A.T.'s family, especially to Wanda. It was a real pleasure knowing and growing up with A.T.in Grubbs. But especially memoriable was our opportunity to meet and talk about old times and old friends when I was in the Air Force and traveled thru Charleston, SC having a rare but great opportunity to spend a little time with him talking about "home". He was a very good friend and helped me out a lot when I was passing thru there enroute to North Africa where I was stationed. He was always the same A.T.. Always friendly, ever helpful, and a real pleasure to know and associate with. Thank you , A.T. , and may GOD be with, comfort, console and bless your family as only HE can. Enjoy the peace you've worked so hard for and earned. I pray that you'll be there for my future journey to again extend your kindness, friendship, and your helping, guiding hand to me. Goodbye.
