Wilbur Carl Wildy

Wilbur Carl Wildy, age 84, of Osceola, Arkansas, died on February 16, 2006, at Baptist East Hospital. He was a life-long resident of the Osceola, Arkansas area. He attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Mr. Wildy was a Corporal with United States Air Force, 680th Bombardment Squadron during World War II and served in the Pacific; for his service, he received a WWII Victory Ribbon, a Good Conduct Medal, an American Theater Ribbon and two Bronze Stars. He was a member of the ground crew of the Enola Gay. Mr. Wildy was a farmer for over seventy years, and was an antique dealer for a number of years. Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Inez Henderson-Bragg Wildy of Osceola, Arkansas; one daughter, Pamela Kent Brackin of West Memphis, Arkansas; two sons: Wilbur Carl Wildy, Jr. of Osceola, Arkansas and Don Braxton Wildy of Memphis, Tennessee; and three grand-children, Lucie Kent Brackin and Betsy Lane Brackin both of Memphis, Tennessee, and Sam Walton Brackin of West Memphis, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by one son, Edward Wade Wildy. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 17, 2006, at Roller-Swift Funeral Home with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. and a service following at 2:00 p.m. Burial was at Violet Cemetery, Osceola, Arkansas under the direction of Roller-Swift Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Wilbur Carl Wildy, Jr., Don Braxton Wildy, Sam Walton Brackin, Gary Bryan Brackin, Dr. Warren Whitis, and Lee Bowles. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Arkansas Cancer Research Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
